Will we win the league this season?

arsenal knickers drop off over xmas and we get a run together
But, if we keep dropping brain farts, we’ll lose too many games. Apparently, we were hanging on yesterday at 2-0 but Leeds didn’t actually create one single chance in that second half but were just gifted 2 goals. I still think we’ve got to get Stones back into the team, especially when we’re guaranteed to have a lot of possession, as Dias and Gvardiol just cannot hit a pass to a blue shirt.

Check this week out in Apr, if we r stil 3 or 4 points within reach after these game we'll have a great chance, 5 games remaining which on paper look decent for us.Screenshot_20251130_221542_ManCityApp.jpgScreenshot_20251130_221542_ManCityApp.jpg

Just to add a bit of extra padding to this, the CL QF is the week before Chelsea and the week after just before Arsenal. All 3 clubs could theoretically be involved. It is also Fa Cup QF weekend 4th April and semi final weekend 25th April!

There is nothing wrong with Dias and Gvardiol's passing.

Think we have at least 2 more losses guaranteed this season.. Spurs and Anfield away.

They're already on top by 5 points.. will they drop 11 points the rest of the way?

I somehow doubt they will drop that many and we will stay perfect.. I mean it would take a ridonkulus 2018-19 effort of us winning last 14 in a row to have a realistic chance.

And even that season we lost at Spurs away in the CL.

This draw is a good result for us, yes?

To be honest with their crisp passing and fitness and courage in taking risks.. they're both better than City at the moment.

We don't take risks.. we just side to side and play it backwards.

I remember a City team that won at the death at the Emirates because Laporte and Rodri took risks and were playing Strikers.

Currently who takes risks in this team? Can you even name one?

Also their physical conditioning seems better than ours as we run out of gas at the 60 minute mark at a team.

Problem is.. a lot of our problems were supposed to have been fixed (defensive mistakes, weak pressing, non-dominant midfield, goal scoring wingers). We're basically back at the same problem as before.

Winning the title with this current bunch in their current form seems like fantasy.

Pissed off with our league position so went back to December league table 22/23 treble season, we have played 13 so far, got a familiar ring to it.

We were shit until 115 was announced in February 2023 and 3 years later

No, because of our away form … we’ll continue to drop points. We should’ve got at least a point v Brighton, Villa & Newcastle but came away with nothing.

We'll be stronger when the business end of the season comes round. Be in touch in March and watch Arse crumble under pressure.

Sure, we gained two points on them. But we did it in the weirdest, shakiest possible manner. Unless we start to play the way we haven't played all season so far, I still think it's Arsenal's.
What could change the way we're playing? A couple or three players coming into form who so far have been pretty underwhelming: looking at you Reindjers, and you, Marmoush. We can have no complaints about Erling, Phil, Doku, or NIco O'R, and Nico G is definitely getting better at his role. At the back, Nunes has actually been pretty good, he's learnt quite a lot about a position that is not, in fact, his own, but he'll always be subject to the kind of thing he did on Saturday. Sorry, but it's always going to happen.
The other unknown factor is of course our Ballon d'Or winner. Will he come back as the player he was? Just not sure. It doesn't necessarily work like that. If he does, and those players come into form, we could push the Arse.

Oh, and please — no more Savinho, Pep, unless as sub. I loathe making players whipping boys, but in match after match either I'm blind, or his contribution is negligible. Some cup games to see if we're maybe wrong? Sure, why not.

Yes we got 40 points from 19 games ie the 2nd half of the season.
Liverpool got 39 points from 20 games and Arsenal 38 points from 20.

Fun facts:

1. We are as consistent as Arsenal over the last 32 games - 19 games of 24/25 (ie the 2nd half of the season) and the first 13 of 25/26.
Our record W20 D5 L7 for 65 points
Arse W18 D11 L3 for 65 points.
Our goal difference is better and we are in with a chance of being calendar year champions ;) (not that anyone gives a shit...)

2. Since the upturn in our form after the defeat at Forest in 24/25 we have both played 23 games.

Our record W15 D4 L4 for 49 points
Arsenal W14 D7 L2 for 49 points.

Again our GD is better so we are top of the 23 game form table :)). Interstingly defensively we only conceded 18 and Arsenal best conceding 17.

This should come as a surprise to the perpetually miserable lot on here.

I just can’t see us being poor all season. Teams have highs and lows and a guardiola team traditionally goes up a level in the new year. If this is currently our poor period than things really aren’t that bad.

We also don’t need the Ballondor winner coming back at full ability. Even Rodri at 80% wil be enough to see us take control of the middle and knit things together.

I'm holding out for this. I've also said I can't see Arse keeping this up for the entire season, but if they do hey ho. We really need a few players to improve and share the load, it'll be tough otherwise.
