City fan suffers broken leg after being attacked at Leeds game

I've been in a few away ends in my time but you often get sussed because you don't sing or cheer at the right times. Ss you say if you're humble and don't celebrate if you score you're usually left alone.
Honestly Paul, I've been to so many many away games since 1969, when I first started going, and I've been in home stands all over the place .... Arsenal, Spurs, Wolves and many others, and the only time i ever had a problem was in a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge in the 70s, when Asa Hartford scored a surprise winner and i completely forgot where i was!

Has he said what actually happened? I've missed stuff in the thread especially after being withdrawn and then reinstated I think.
He was originally arrested then de arrested after a revue of the CCTV. He made a statement. No more comments because some of us are providing statements at the weekend

The issue is, away fans think they can get away with celebrating a goal in hospitality areas. If those Leeds fans were in SSL1 or in the Kippax corner, they wouldn’t have flinched. That’s one reason why away fans will always buy available match tickets in hospitality across the Etihad, which have increased in number over the years.

Just wait until the GA+ seats, the hospitality areas, the hotel, the restaurant, and the floating 3rd tier are open and operational on the new ‘City home end’. It’s going to be carnage.

Following reports that a City fan had suffered a double leg break at the hands of Leeds supporters in the home end, City launched an investigation alongside GMP. They directly addressed the incident on social media.

"We are aware of an incident that took place at the Etihad Stadium yesterday between a group of fans," read a statement from Man City Fan Support on X, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"From the information that has been provided to the club by the relevant authorities and through internal investigations, we can confirm that this incident did not involved Leeds fans and that the injuries were nowhere near as serious as the inaccurate rumours which have circulated online. This matter is subject to an ongoing police investigation."

Disgraceful from the club

I hope the City fan is recovering well.
However could I ask a quick question please. Originally it was stated a fan was ‘beaten senseless’ and, as I read it, another had his leg broken but we have only heard about the broken leg. So was a fan beaten senseless or is this the exaggeration the club has posted about therefore not exactly lying as implied/stated but trying in a crack handed manner to explain?

I have read all the posts in this thread I think (amazing what you do to relieve the boredom of lying in a hospital bed!) and couldn’t make out whether two people had two different injuries, or one person had a broken leg after being beaten senseless. Sorry.

Also, without trying to be a sycophant I can only say what happened to me when I was at an away match in London and assaulted by a City fan and ignored by the London stewards and police but when I reported it to City on my return they contacted me within the hour and were extremely supportive as was @Ric on here.

I guess we can only speak as we find. The person who contacted me within the hour was Danny Wilson. Take that as you like but this is why I stick up for him. JMHO

Hopefully I do not offend anyone but I have to be honest. :-) :-)

EDIT: If it was two people I hope the second one gets well soon as well. :-)
Danny Wilson is a good guy, why he gets stick on here, god knows ?

I would still encourage as many Blues as possible to attend the Galatassary game as we contribute to the safety of each other.

I understand why you say that mate but I'm sat here thinking if I go I'll have my 14 year old lad with me and if anything does kick off (fairly high chance all around the ground by the sounds of it) and I defend him and myself, then I'm probably just getting banned for it anyway so frankly why bother? The club wants shot of the traditional fans and in this case I'll probably oblige them.

We've seen incredible things none of us could have imagined, but my we've paid a price for it.

See Ferran has sent his lieutenants CC1 and Pride In Battle into the affray!

Well highlighted. I wouldn’t worry about either of them two. They are irrelevant.

On a more serious and important note.

City Matters have now joined the fight. I’d go as far as saying the OSC is onboard as well. That’s all the fans groups V the Directors.(Superba in Proelio & CC1)

You do realise that two of those arrested are City fans who jumped in to help out and have now been bailed until February and their season tickets suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. Others tried to spilt up those involved. Not everyone stood and watched
Can someone from the fans representative group not intervene-after all what happened to innocent until guilty ? Poor form from City -

This post reminds me why I don’t read or post on here anymore, what a wanker you actually are.
People, like you have replied to, usually have an ideological take on football where it has to be a local British owner who understands the area and knows their place in the footballing eco-system, and will accept their place, but complain why they aren’t moving forward.

All part of the make-up of our great club.
