Tijjani Reijnders - Welcome to City

concerns about his defending are massively overstated imo. they all basically boil down to the fact that he was not asked to perform a defensive duty at milan. doesn't mean he can't now that he'll be asked to for us. the most important thing is that he's quick and covers a ton of ground, which he's always been. he will take a deeper position than he does in milan.
 
I was impressed with his interview. He looks confident and at ease with himself and best of all delighted to be with us. He is older than the other two and that showed in his confidence and comfort with the english language (He is dutch after all). I think he will be a very significant player for us.

He's pretty lightweight and hardly robust, to be fair. His heading looks pretty weak too. To be fair, he'll likely be around Gundogan level in terms of defending.

He's basically a Gundogan clone but younger and fitter....I think.

Hope so! He reminds me a bit of Ferna in that his first thought is to move forward at speed and look to break the lines. I do like that in a midfielder. So many midfielders' first thought is always to look for the safe pass (e.g. Declan Rice).

Milan fans say that he is lightweight but he knows how to use his frame, he wins a lot of fouls in midfield since he's good at using his body to cover the ball. Technically he's impossible to get the ball off. The game that they thought they had one of the best midfielders was against Madrid where he was unplayable.

I think Cherki is getting the hype and rightfully so but Reijnders might just be signing of the season.

Comparisons to Gundo but it's not City Gundo he's being compared to its Dortmund Gundo before the injuries. Dortmund Gundo before his injuries was the best midfielder in Europe.
 
Just watched the inside city with him signing, seems a good lad, very calm with a dry sense of humour. Think he'll be a top player for us.
 
Thinking about when we Signed Gundogan when he came into the our team it now reminds me of this guy Reijnders especially first half against Leeds where he did a couple of runs with the ball made the wrong choice by shooting of when he shot it got blocked been unlucky! Think it took gundogan around 6 months to us to realise how good he was.. hope it clicks because we need him..

Gundo was probably called shite, a waste of money, a ghost and a plodder as well no doubt...
