My son is dyslexic and has some mild learning difficulties. He’s worked in hospitality since the age of 18, he’s now 25. He’s got some great work experience but sadly the place he works at has been reducing his hours over time due to a fall in business - also because they prefer to staff with part timers.

This is a long shot I know but I’m appealing to anyone who may know of anyone that is willing to take a chance on him. He’s ideally looking for full time opportunities. He’s applying for lots of jobs but not hearing back and interviews and recruitment processes can be challenging.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
He’s Manchester based.

I hope you can find a place for the young un where he isn’t abused ….. I’m not thinking physical. I see lots of people hired by local businesses that just need somewhere to be and really appreciate it

Can I ask; hospitality in what sense? Hotels? Restaurants? Front facing positions?

Check local hospital trust websites. There should hopefully some jobs in the catering department coming through soon for the NCA if that may suit?(although I'm not too sure if Oldham/Bury/Rochdale may be too far).

Be worth checking MFT's website too!

Anywhere near radcliffe m26?

Lots of restaurants, cinema etc but all small and independent so expect they won't advertise vacancies due to cost. Probably worth dropping some CVs in on a regular basis in case they have an opportunity but will probably need to keep going back as they won't keep on file, it'll be a sign in the window when they have an immediate need.

If he can travel, would be worth doing the same in the city centre, as a lot more places to go at.

Best of luck to him.

Has he been to see the Disability employment advisor at the Jobcentre? They may be able to help?
