Do we though? What’s the point/obsession with growing our fanbase if we keep forgetting and alienating our own fans/ the people who would still attend if all the success went away.

All the club seem to care about is ‘new’ fans

The thing is I'd be very surprised if the Sunderland fans who will be in the City end cause any bother, not that it makes it right and I post that as someone who has been in away ends at least 6/7 times including the swamp in '76 & the Yaya Newcastle game in 2012.

It should take a real effort to get into the home end, none of this flash the cash for a padded seat stuff.

If we can't fill the posh seats, I saw something a couple of days ago that staff are getting freebies to fill hospitality, City should do a very low cost upgrade/free entry draw for SC olders, actually get some good PR and look after the bread & butter fans for once.
 
The way that our fans would make a statement would be to completely boycott a home match. Everyone who considers themselves a "Legacy fan" to miss an agreed league game - say Wolves in February. Let the club see what it would look like if they got their way and only tourists turned up. The problem is that as a nation, we roll over and have our collective bellies tickled.

The Bundesliga tried to introduce Monday Night Football a few years ago and the fans completely stopped it within weeks. In England, we all too often complain to each other but carry on regardless.
 
Whilst it may seem pedantic this is an important distinction. Fan support tweeting something isn't a "club statement". Whilst the club (directors/owner) are responsible for any communication they could distance themselves from it, admitting it was wrong but claiming it was a "training issue" or some other tenuous reason. They could also claim they were/are unaware of the tweet in the event they are forced to comment on it.

And that has been the club policy and problem season after season.

The club is pushing legacy fans out any way they can on purpose, and replacing them with new fans who will spend more money on a match day.

What the club is doing isn't unintentional, it's intentional. The directors and the club know exactly what they are doing.

They should be ashamed of themselves, but they aren't. To them City is now nothing more than a business, where increasing match day revenue and annual profit is more important than anything else, which includes the (Legacy) fans.

I get that, I really do. But surely that rule is also part of the big picture that we're all not happy about. Embarrass the fuckers in front of a global audience. It made a difference when the stay out protest happened, it'd work again.

Easy way around that is to turn up at the game, swipe your card or flash the phone whatever it is to get in, push the turnstile and piss off to Mary D’s or back into town and watch the game on the telly

I agree. I've been the beneficiary of free tickets to hospitality lounges as a "Cityzen" in years gone by, but these kinds of things have seemed to dry up since the success started.
The boxes are another opportunity to generate good PR. Don't think I've ever seen them all fully occupied. Why not go on a charm offensive and get some City TV exposure out there?

People make excuses for the club.

It's like not wanting to think your parents are cunts but when you grow up you should be able to say it, this is why I support City fans first and foremost.
