Salford Red Devils wound up by HMRC

Be interesting in the coming months on the rugby situation and if Salford City are in the mix for promotion. The ground is ready made for the type of crowds in league one and the potential away followings.
If Salford City move to the AJ Bell they will loose the majority of their fanbase!

I have spent all my life living in Salford surrounded by reds and arguing with them. But the one thing we all did, was support Salford Red Devils!

I don't know many Reds or Blues who go to Moor Lane to watch Salford, but I know a hell of a lot of Salford RL fans who do! They will lynch the rat faced shit stain, if he takes advantage of their misfortune and gets their old stadium on the cheap!

Salford FC will never be a big team because they are an armature team in a city full of City and United fans! That's how why its so funny that the vanity project that is 'The Class of 92' has failed. Their egos honestly made them belive that their names and changing the kit to red, would make them a fortune!

I remember in the 60s and 70s the brilliant David Watkins playing for Salford to great excitement. The club were big then. Sic transit Gloria.

I went past PNE Deepdale on the 19a on Wednesday and after reading this news about Salford I got to thinking what if clubs like Preston just disappeared the ground sold and houses built where the footprint of the stadium is now?

We take it for granted that these institutions are always going to be there, once you change the demographic of the local population then this is what happens.

Has there ever been a single football club go bump, where a change in the local population demographic has been cited as even partly responsible?

The new stadium was perfectly located. Right on the M60. If the trafford centre can take 250,000 people over a weekend, then the AJ Bell stadium can take 10,000 easily. You couldn't get a more accessible location for a stadium. Walking distance from the tram stop at the Trafford centre. A massive car park all the way round it as well. It's gone tits up because the interest isn't there. People aren't bothered enough to watch Rugby league, and that is why so many clubs struggle to stay alive. The interest from younger generations is dwindling. And can you blame them with the draw of football available right on their doorstep.
It's 1.9 miles from the ground to the Trafford Centre tram.
Also, I thought the large car park surrounding the ground wasn't used by fans on match days.

Perfectly located for who? The traditional fan base that walked from Weaste and Langworthy to The Willows?

Bradford seem to be surviving
RFL bought their ground off them, hence why they are back in Super League, it is i the RFL's best interested to help them.
Salford could move in to Sale’s old ground!

Sale FC still own it and play there along with Swinton. It has a good club house but most of but 3 sides of the ground are just flat standing so would mean they never get back into SL.

I think you need to read back on the posts and the undertones of some of them
I'm sorry I'm not sure what you mean. I was just making a passing observation that Salford Reds had to compete with City and Stretford football clubs. I don't see what I said was wrong or disparaging just a fact.
If I offended your sensibilities I apologise. No offence intended. :-)
