Pep faced a lot of questions about the goals conceded against Leeds and Fulham but I think he made the point quite well that we also scored 8 goals and that Leeds and Fulham were in good moments. Fulham won at Spurs and Leeds put 3 past Chelsea.

That's the fouls table so far this season. To say that they rely on fouls is very much not true. As you can see, they've committed the second lowest number of fouls of any team this season.
Any chance some kind soul can put up the number of yellow cards table so far this season, cos I bet my fucking house we are near the top of that.

Pep “Rodri is getting better. When will he be back? in a few years he will be ready”

Said with a mixture and humour and frustration I would say. See what you think at 8.50 on the vid below.

I am less confident about this one after Tuesday. OK Nunes and O’Reilly have done well in positions not normally associated with them, but maybe bring Ake in along with Dias and give Gvardiol the left back role, he has already shown he can do the job. On the right we have two alternatives to Nunes, Lewis and Khusanov. All the aforementioned are capable but all are prone to occasional mistakes, but the second half against Fulham showed we need to re-think our defensive strategy.

I think Gvardiol needs a rest and I wouldn’t have Ake anywhere near the starting XI, he looks past it now

I don't think Pep would have been as light-hearted as that if Rodri's situation was serious. I'm actually more hopeful after watching that that he might be back sooner than I expected.

One for the pessimists like @Ric : Sunderland haven't beaten us at home since January 1998.

An XI of our players who weren't born then -

Donnarumma; Nico, Gvardiol, Khusanov, Nunes; Nico, Reijnders, Foden; Doku, Haaland, Cherki.

Bench: Trafford, Lewis, RAN, Bobb, Marmoush, Lewis.

Bernardo and Donnurumma are one booking away from a 1 game ban. Need to avoid a booking in next 6 matches - that’s going to be hard work with the officials !

I reckon it'll be Palace or West Ham.

Pep's whole attitude over the last few weeks has been way too positive for me to think the Rodri situation is as dire as some posters think. He keeps talking about how we're just around the corner from something special, and to me that's a manager who has got his front 3 working and knows his defensive problems will be over when the best DM in the world comes back.

Palace is the one I'm thinking we need him for.

Ideally Madrid in mid-week but less important, top 8 isn't essentially just ideal.

Question that stared in the press conference with “Rayan Alt-Nouri came in in the summer and cost a fair amount of money…”
Pep bursts out laughing.
Pep knows.

Not trying to be a downer, but it really starting to feel like we're about to see the final few months of Rodri wearing the beautiful sky blue.

It has just been a relationship that has felt off between him and the club now for a few months, and with no news of a contract extension in sight it just feels like he will play for Spain in the USA this summer then make his way to Madrid for hopefully around 90-100M.

Hope I'm wrong, but just doesn't look great.

Don’t think we’d get anything like that amount with his injury issues and only 18 months left on his contract.
