Elliot Anderson

Probably a more pressing need (pun intended) than a winger or full back, given the uncertainty over Kovacic's and Rodri's injuries, and ability to come back from them.

Him or Wharton would be my shout, but I can't see either club agreeing to a sale until summer. Would need the player to push and if either comes to us, we do well, they feature, and we maybe win a trophy or two, then the plane to America is more likely.

As usual you are wrong, he signed in 2024 not in the summer, and was part of a team that challenged for top 4 most of last season.
But not the standout. I do get things correct as well before you start calling me out. He isn't the answer to our current issues.

Newcastle sold him because of PSR, he'd still be at Newcastle if it wasnt for their finances, not getting into their centre mid positions at 21 isn't a slight on him at all, you could argue its the best Central midfield in the country and all 3 currently playing there would improve us.
There were still plenty of options for Newcastle to move first if he was that talented.

Bruo Guimares for starters if he was that talented. Instead of buying Harvey Barnes more opportunites too. We have NIco O'Reilly who should be given a better chance in midfield.
Why woud they sell there best player?

Harvey Barnes was already there he signed a year earlier.

Anderson was a youth player so had no book value so it was all profit for PSR purposes.

Come on man
I am serious. I am solely down to using talented EDS players when it comes to English players rather than buy. If they are really special (Phil Foden being prime candidate if he wasn't at City to begin with) then by all means bring them in.

You watch city and for me you can see why O’Reily will struggle in midfield! He doesn’t hold of players good enough at back to goal, he also just holds the ball to long and easy to tackle. All that can be improved.

Still there was an opportunity if they wanted to fully integrate him.

And yet we discussed selling Cole Palmer for 10 pages. You obviously just want to argue/be on the opposite end of everything

Still plenty of time to develop as midfielder. He is learning at LB in terms of defensive play.

Far from it. Cole Palmer had an opportunity but he decided to move on before he could really establish himself. He didn't look like the current Chelsea player whilst at City.

What EDS player currently looks better than Palmer did in our senior team, nevermind better than Elliot Anderson who is currently one of the best midfielders in the league at 23?

Ok, explain what he doesn't do, that you wouldn't want from a midfielder?
Still maintain O'Reilly has what it takes to play in our midfield but it will take a little patience and work to make it fully work in our set up. I don't think Anderson is any better.

You could be right. But we don't know.

I don't know if O'Reilly has the speed of thought, sureness of touch and 360 vision to play in there. We know Anderson can play there in the PL - he's great at interceptions, tackles, passing and covering the ground.

Obviously there's a question about whether he can do what Pep wants, but he does seem to do everything, so there's a chance at least.

I could see Anderson himself not wanting the move in January. He's earning call ups despite the shit Forest are in at the moment while the uncertainty around Rodri and his playing time at City in the second half of the season could be enough for Anderson to maybe just wait until the summer.

I'd have him in a heartbeat though and we may as well go for Wharton with Bernardo and Kovacic leaving in the summer along with whatever the future holds for Rodri.
