Sunderland (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Just a solid win from a team we all hope can win the title again.

Nice to see us not relying on the big man for goals like we seemed to be a few games back.

Dipper and Arse results a nice boost to the day.

Always think reading the opponent’s forum is a good indicator after a match up, and the consensus on Ready to Go seems to be that we’re the best side they’ve faced by a country mile.

Only downside about today is that we have to face them again within a month, which is ridiculous given that we won’t have even played Chelsea yet. Much prefer a longer gap between meetings, as familiarity can lead teams to close shop.
Half their team will be away in the Africa cup

Excellent win against a club who've been doing well this season ..... great goal from Dias, and then he ruins it when he got in that mess trying to clear the ball .. good job Donnarumma was alert and helped him out, really good save !

If we'd let Sunderland in there the game could have finished differently ..... all in all though I think we were definitely the better team over the 90 minutes, and it's a great three points on a day when Arsenal did the decent thing, and imploded, lol !
Cherki has shades of Ali Bernarbia

Good win again (all wins are good), but after starting weakly, I thought from 20 minutes on the performance was good too, and we saw out a game well after the third, unlike the chaos of midweek.

Wee reminder that Cherki has only turned 22 in the summer.

To be clear I am NOT comparing the two in terms of ability and overall impact on the game, but Ronaldinho is one of my favourite ever players to have watched play the game. Flicks, tricks and pieces of individual class which gets fans off their feet. There's shades of that in Cherki, lovely player to watch and hopefully he can keep developing at the rate he is - who knows where his ceiling is.

Nice game but still plenty of room for improvement. First half some of the crossing was just not accurate enough and it was all a little too slow. Dias' goal came just as the game was settling into frustration.

Although Sunderland did play through the middle a little easier than you'd like the defensive line was normally pretty strong and picked off the attackers as they needed the box.

Slightly frustrating game as I think we were playing a little slow to try and tempt the Sunderland defence out to press but they were pretty disciplined and sat low.

Loving Foden right now and Cherki has a very subtle change of pace that throws defenders off
We actually put a couple of excellent low crosses into their box in the first half, but where Haaland was i don't know, because they were tailor made for him.

I know Cherki definitely delivered one of them .. and the other might have been from Nunes, but I'm not certain.

Just got home from the game. I thought we were good today and it was an enjoyable game to watch. I thought all the starting 11 played well. Really impressed with Nico O'Reilly again today, he's developed into one of the best full backs in the PL in my opinion.

It was nice to see Dias get a thunderbastard and some of our play going forward was a joy to watch.

Sunderland have been quite solid this season and I think we were pretty comfortable all game.

The cheer on the concourse when Villa scored before our game was great.

I hope we can keep some momentum going and put the pressure on Arsenal.
