Injuries 2025/26 | Guardiola confirms that Stones is injured again (p40)

If Tuchel has all his hopes on Stones being the main rock of the back four at the World Cup next year we will be coming home by the R16.

His contract is up in the summer, seems highly improbable that we’ll offer him a new deal. He’s been an excellent club servant, but as with De Bruyne there’s no room for sentiment in these decisions.

Just not available enough, mate and when he is he's a shadow of the old Stones.
Still love him, he's been a superstar but his times up.
 
Stones gets picked and plays nearly all England games, even the friendly's.

Then we don't see him for months after the international break.

He's been great for us, and would have loved him to given us his time over England and managed himself better by retiring from international football after the last euros.

Go and get Marc Guehi in January
 
Stayed for enough for the international break period, is that just a coincidence? Bet he’s fit in time for March in the mean time he can rest ready for the WC and have a nice Xmas and NY without the inconvenience of being available If I was Pep I’d have him in and make him travel

He was injury prone when he joined us, and he's still injury prone .... let's face it, at his age that's never gonna change.

We need defenders we can rely on .... he'll be 32 come May, and still the only thing you can rely on Stones for is another trip to the physios treatment table soon .. it's a cast iron certainty .... we shouldn't be giving contracts to players who are clearly a 'bad risk', or ones who put in a good game every blue moon, like Savinho!

Damn Stones is such a great player but sadly the injuries just keep coming. His contract expires in June and we will see another City great moving on.

This is his 10th league campaign with us. He has never managed to make 30 league appearances in a season and not even made 20 appearances in many seasons. Honestly think if he wasn’t so unlucky with injuries his name would be right up there with all time best premier league centre backs.

Come the summer, John will pull on that white shirt and play 90mins every three days without issues. Will probably show off and run from game to game rather than take the team bus.
 
Nobody is taking a player on 1 million a month for ten games a season.
So it very unlikely we sell him.
Time stands still for Nobody.
I was gutted when Ferno left but Rodri soon filled that gap.
Kev leaving similar but who knows what's next maybe Cherki will fill that gap too.
Always gonna love Johny boulders but don't expect to see him on the pitch much. CTID
 
I believe stones gets a new contract. You can't have 8/9 starting defenders in their prime years and keep them all happy.

Stones is aging and we know about his injury record but that makes him ideal to fill the squad cover role if he is realistic about his status. Much better to have a vastly experienced Stones play 10-20 games for us than have to replace him with somebody unproven and/or young and then have to deal with at least 1, maybe more players constantly wanting to leave at the end of the season for more football. His wages will have to come down a fair bit to reflect this status but seems ideal scenario to me.
