I've never seen Guehi at right back considering his left foot.

All that sounds nice and I agree, but do you think he would prefer to rotate with Gvardiol when he can go elsewhere and be an immediate starter? (Liverpool)

I have my doubts.

Yes it's a no-brainer move to make, but think about why Ake is leaving, lack of minutes.

Pep always has a preferred back 4 in all his his time here, and right now Gvardiol is the LCB.

Bringing in Guehi would be great competition and depth, but does he want to compete for that spot? I kinda doubt it.

Guehi is in that perfect middle age where he needs to play. Whereas a younger player usually accepts a backup role in the meantime like Khus and Reis.

Tbh if our defence was not creaking every game we’d not even be discussing this but our defence isn’t great and Gigi is saving us in ganes so yes we need a good centre half who can actually tackle

He is right footed but plays on the left. Don’t know if he ever played right back but you would have expected that to be his natural side but seems comfortable as LCB.
 
I can’t see it.
Of Palace sell him mid season, I can see their manager walking out the door with him

Unless the offer is big, which is unlikely given he’s only 6 months on his contract, I think Palace will keep him and try and finish in Europe. He will also then have his pick of clubs
 
Stones and Ake are creaking and looking like their time is done, Dias hasn't been brilliant for a couple of years, rolled back the clock in his last game but that is the first time he's looked dominant for a long time.

We will be in serious need of an experienced quality CB, to play alongside Kush/Gvardiol.
We have a few youngsters pushing to be the 4th and 5th choice but they are not ready for the main role just yet.

He would be my main target

Any CB pairing suffers without Rodri being fit and now Nico is finding his feet it’s no coincidence that the defence has looked more solid. Dias also played injured for the team last season before it backfired.

Dias hasn't been at his best since he got with that woman, though that could be just a coincidence lol

Also, playing through injury ended Laporte's career here; he was never the same again.

As for Rodri, it looks like we are going to have to get used to him being not in the team, pretty much two seasons, will he come back the same player?

Nico G stepping up is now crucial.

That would be ok, if we can’t get him. Just don’t want the scouse twats getting him, especially if we don’t even seem to try.

When very good players become available we should be all over them.

I hope he does, we have invested best part of 100m into the future of our back line. We won't be putting in another road block.

I think Bayern would be best for Guehi also, he can sign for them on 1st January, get a huge fee and then his head is clear ahead of the World Cup.

Oh that's interesting, guess sorta like Van Dijk then as I have only ever seen Guehibat at LCB and assumed left footedness.

I would definitely get him, I just think it's a harder sell compared to Bayern or Liverpool where he immediately starts.

I think Laporte is still one of the best passing centre backs but he was never a good enough defender. In big champions league games he had stinkers. Still he got us some crucial goals and I’ll never forget how he played through pain to win us the league in 2022. Dias isn’t as good on the ball but a much more aggressive defender.
 
On. Gvardiol. at LB to accomodate, this would be a major step back for him now he has established himself as first choice LCB and also a bit of an insult imho.

A right back and possibly RCB is more a priority as atm we have josko, dias, ake who can play left, with hopefully Reiss maturing for next year to return, where on the right we have stones khush and dias and no fullback.

But Stones is never fit and likely won't be here next season. So there's a squad space opening up for someone (maybe two if Ake also goes), whether it's an incoming player or returning loanee (Reis/Bah).
