Last February, most would have dismissed the idea that merely adding Cherki and Donnarumma would be enough to see us win away at Real Madrid, yet here we are. There has been incredible improvement in Nunes, Doku, O'Reilly, Gonzalez, and Foden, and that has all come with consistent game time. We will see the same with Reijnders, Savinho, Lewis, Bobb, Marmoush, and Ait-Nouri in due course. Won't stop some on here reaching Australia with their shovels and spades, however.

If he keeps working hard, as he is, then opportunities will come. I don't need him to deliver 20+ goals and assists yet. I just want to see him do the basics. If we're winning games and he can come on and give others a rest then that's all he needs to do for now. He's got unbelievable dribbling ability, it's just the final pass/shot he needs to work on.
Credit to him, Marmoush and Reijnders though. They came on and added the energy we've lacked at times and helped ensure we got the 3pts.

After a shaky first couple of minutes, he put a shift in, skinned their left back a few times, got us up the pitch and worked hard on getting back. I think he is low on confidence and if he somehow manages to get a goal soon his conditioning could grow and his performances improve.

He's going to give the ball away sometimes, that's just part of the role.
The stats aren't misleading, they're fixed - it's how you interpret them. And that's up to you.
From my perspective - he came on ran at Carreras (Madrid's best player on the night) and gave him a problem he hadn't had. He baited Rudiger with a really smart stuttering dribble that should have been a second yellow. He got back to support Nunes and was aggressive in the tackle.
Even horribly off form he tends to create at least 1 gilt-edged chance in the small time he's on.
I like elements of his game more than others and some of his drawbacks bother me (a lot) less than others. But he's coming on and out performing the other options, especially Marmoush, so I wouldn't expect to see less of him. I just feel like he's done exactly what Pep sent him on to do yesterday, after looking absolutely depressed at the weekend, and does that show a bit of courage and application.
He actually tried last night. Much better. But let’s all not go thinking he’s Messi. There’s still a long long way to go before he can be classed as a good enough city player. But if he can work and play like last night, there is certainly hope

As I've said before..., low confidence needs the support of Blues to lift him.
He is ours for the season ,get behind him, he could explode in form just at the right time..

I can see where you're coming from. And maybe I'm being a bit too obstinate, which is on me. But I just don't like the lad.
His attitude reeks, he's been absolutely abysmal and has 0 credit in the bank to put in such lacklustre performance. The stuff over the summer with spurs was annoying, as is the reports I've got from mates at the club who say his attitude stinks and he's one of the most arrogant players we've had at the club in the last 15 years.
Though, of course, I understand that some are willing to be more patient and you've every right to that as you've come with some decent stats for him. But, I fear my mind is made up. And unless he pulls out some absolute worldies (not just ok, not just good performances) I can't see my head being turned.
Admittedly this is entirely emotional, but I think football is an emotional thing.
I just don't like him, to be honest, and am willing to admit that, but I think he's a really, really poor player.

Did well at some points but some points he gave the ball away pointlessly resulting in Madrid coming back forward. Should have ran it to the corner flag, but I suppose that’s just down to experience. Still don’t think he will ever cut it here but the club must see something that we don’t

Of course he had a choice. Run it to the corner and hold it up.
He wasn’t scoring, he knew it and the entire stadium knew it but he did it anyway. Same thing when he ran down the line and just smashed a cross in, didn’t even look to see that no one was there. Just did it anyway.

Yeah whatever he did you would say it was the wrong choice. Now he even gets hate for crossing the ball well which someone like Sterling or sane would’ve scored in any game.
Unbeliable. He is a winger not a holding 6 - he will lose the ball and won’t go 10/10 passes/ crosses and dribbles.

Sterling and Sane!!?, what fucking year are you in mate. You are giving him credit for hitting in a cross that a former player might have tapped in 6 years ago. Christ, is that how far standards have fallen. He is playing that badly that the fact he got a cross in that didn't hit the defenders shinpads is now a positive.
He did plenty right and a few things wrong, things that could have cost us but thankfully didn't.
Pointing that out isn't hating it's pointing out what happened.
Overall it was his best cameo in a while but far from perfect.
Baby steps and all that.

Can you imagine if the small lightly built winger ran on his own to the corner flag without the support of someone like bernardo or foden to bounce about it with and then tried to shield it from Rudiger or Thcouameni.
I'm sorry but I just don't think Doku, Bobb, Marmoush anyone else would be taking criticism for not being confident in doing that.
Instead the massively over-hated guy took on one the world's best centre backs and absolutely out-thought him and he should have been sent off.
The thing I like about Sav is he obviously has the ideas. He doesn't always pull them off (less so though this season, and I do think he's lost confidence with some of the OTT abuse) but it always seems like he's thinking about doing something impactful. One of my problems with Doku before this season is he'd dribble for the sake of dribbling, without having a picture or what he'd do when he got there.
To me Sav is the opposite - he has good vision, good understanding of play and is a genuinely inventive player. But he can't always pull it off, and it usually looks horribly lightweight when it goes wrong. The finishing, the defensive application - things that'll come with time and coaching.
But I suspect Pep, Viana, Txiki see/saw it the same way - give him the 2 years Doku got to get 23 and you might have a creative playmaking winger: a Hazard, Kvara, Mahrez type in there. Not a lethal inside forward Mane, Salah, Sane type but he never was that.
For me has that creative City DNA our best players have had, he just doesn't put it together as often as they did. Yet.

The state of the game completely suited him last night. Tiring Madrid full backs and them trying to push for the equaliser giving him acres of space to run into. With more composure, he could've had a goal / assist. But fair play to him he did well after a shaky start.
But I think that's his role for now. I wouldn't trust him to start or come on as sub when we need to chase the game
