Media discussion - 2025/26

Another puff piece by the impartial bbc. If you watch the video in response to every answer the bbc reporter nods like an obedient dog. It is a bile inducing 3 minutes.

I love calling out shite reporting - especially when it's a "newspaper" so close to home.
Anyone notice an error????

The British media is at rock bottom
It's embarrassing the terrible standards they have dropped to.
you only have to look how many viewers they have or income from news articles.

Well said, SilvaisSkyBlue. I counted 12 links in the article.
Not to give BBC an "out", but I'm sure those links are automatically generated for them when a club's name is mentioned.

You'll notice that the one mention of "Manchester City" is a link, while all the "City" mentions are without them.

The thing that stands out though, is that they don't use "United", both mentions are "Manchester United". So only City is shortened.

Tottenham or Spurs don't get links either, which is likely because they requested to be called "Tottenham Hotspur" earlier this year.

Here is how subtle BBCs coverage is against other teams - bear with me here!
There is an article “Liverpool, Man City and Spurs in running for Semenyo”. In it, they show horn United into the article as well, anytime Liverpool or United get mentioned and their name used, it is underlined and linked to their bbc sport page, for us and Spurs this is not the case. Now it may not seem much but by adding the links it allows for quicker and easier ways to hit the Dippers and Rags pages - meaning more clicks (and in their eyes more traffic) and therefore it justifies them giving those teams more coverage. Subtle but why not do the same for ALL teams
Note arsenal also mentioned and they are underlined as well!
I might write a complaint to the bbc not about this but the lack of balanced reporting when it comes to football

They supposed to be impartial so that’s the argument you can point out!

By omitting links for City and Spurs, doesn't that reduce the total number of click ons, and therefore contradict your argument?

does this thread include social media? If so, this is a good listen... some great points about the ref and media coverage (closet Blue?).

She has always been pretty incisive with her comments, if we can all stop laughing at her because she is a woman and a United fan.

Got a bit of a soft spot for Alice, actually. Reminds me of an old girlfriend a lifetime ago. Was never going to work, though - she was a lawyer ....

You could write and complain for sure but you'd be laughed at. Those hyperlinks are automatically generated I suspect, which is why every club mentioned there has a hyperlink to their respective homepage. Ours is indeed linked but we're only mentioned the once, they don't use Tottenham's full name, hence the automation fails.

The dippers were always going to be looked at more in depth due to the Salah circus show.

I presume the argument is that the rags, arsenal etc are more popular, 'just look at how many clicks per day'.
That then justifies them doing even more raggy articles because they are giving the public what they want.

In reality the public in general are sick of all the sycophantic shite the bbc spew out.
