Why is there not a statue of Yaya?

to be classed as a legend a lot also depends on what happens off the pitch. Tevez is another who I think, on his day, was probably as good as anyone we’ve ever had but nobody will really define him as a City legend because his off the field antics soured it.

Yet Tevez main problem with his Golf trips was Mancini throwing him with a lie under the bus. And Tevez in typical fashion of him (for the good and bad) didn't even care to clarify the situation.
There is no current City without Tevez at all, and these it's even said by his mates in those days, it was the main catalyst to actually be seen and started to be fear.

Still I do agree that Tevez played for Tevez, but in the meantime, he helped every team he was (bar royally fecking the Chinese) to be better. At the end of the day he could do what he did, because he backed it up in the pitch and was a dude that could face literally anything throw to him, a rare specimen in such sense.

City would have become one of the best teams in the world anyway. Because other great players would have been signed.

Yet before Tevez those didn't work and he was THAT Catalyst (including helping to attract such type of players), adding the way it happenned was in many ways (even wrong ones) a plus.

PD: BTW how many players would have crumble under the type of pression the marketing campaign created? the vast majority of players in a very reasonable and understandable manner have a hard time just coping with a big transfer number over their heads, Tevez just lived throuth that with a smile with way bigger extra stuff aside the money to handle. Also how much of a negative impact would have been if his transfer failed for other players following him after such an agressive and all in marketing campaign?.

I think fans do not give enough credit to that. In many ways it's a signature of the best of him and the worst of him, if he didn't had such a huge character and personality (fopr the good and bad), there is no way he would pull that out.

The best thing about signing Tevez, apart from us getting a quality player Was that it brought them twats down a peg or two.

I get that you adore Tevez, but I don't agree with your points.

I will never forgive him for throwing a city fans scarf down onto the pitch at Wembley

Have i misremembered Yaya smacking someone in the crowd in the face with a piledriver away to Palace? The memory came back to me during the game yesterday.

Because he wasn’t here for ten years, unlike Vinnie, Merlin, Sergio (and Kevin).
Fair point, and one I often forget.....
Wish we had prime Yaya tbh.
I honestly think after his globe trotting in his earlier career, we were lucky he still had the energy to invigorate our re emergence as one of the greatest teams in this country...
But yeah fair point about the length of time spent at the club.
Imo,the effect he has on us ,makes me think he was here longer!

The better question is... why would any City fan want a statue of Yaya? Yes, a great footballer, but a total ****. Hostile towards our club and manager, demanding excessive wages, and a detriment to team chemistry. Does anyone really want a statue of such a player - no matter how good he was at football?

Look... my favorite ever City player was Tevez. Bar none.

But Tevez crossed the line with our club, refusing to enter the game when Mancini wanted him to. This forever ruined Tevez's reputation for our club... and though I still both love and hate Tevez, there's no way I'd want a statue of Tevez at our club. So too, Toure.. but even more so for me.
Fair points.,...
But I always look at utd ,they ignore Best letting the team down not turning up for training pissed, and iirc not being fit to play on a Saturday.....
I could go on and on about other clubs heroes/ legends with a statute.. Clough with his bungs, and pilfering the cash off match day turnstiles at forest, letting alcohol overcome his genius..
Bobby Robson north east hero, but don't talk about the time he was stopped by police with a load of guns in the boot of his car
Alan shearer ? Not even gonna go there...
Bobby charlton ,ticket towt.still a statue.

At the end of the day it's about our own fans perceptions of players,...and many do feel Yaya is not worthy of a statue.

Another poster mentioned Alan Oakes 600 odd games for City captain and trophy winner,so maybe Yayas 4 or 5 years pales into insignificance......maybe.
