Any had a loft conversion done or got any recommendations? Got a terrace house in Stretford we are considering doing a velux conversion thing in the roof to make an extra bedroom

We had one done 15 years ago and paid just under £20k for two rooms, dorma and en suite.

When we moved home a few years ago we wanted it done again on the new house but were quoted £50-60k so didn't go ahead. Were told material and labour costs plus high demand was the reason.

I did one on my house during lockdown
Nice big dorma to the rear of my property
Me and the Mrs came up into the space
Nice large bedroom, lovely big shower, toilet, bidet and sink and a large dressing area where we put our clobber

All in all probably cost me £20,000 k ish, that’s doing most of it ourselves

Money well spent indeed

A bloody bidet !
Surely having a good deep rummage with bog roll gives a more thorough clean
Can a bidet remove anything you can't clear with toilet roll, it'd have to be jet wash power
Think I'd choose baby wipes for that little bit extra

I was abit sceptical myself but the Mrs insisted we have one,her exact words where ‘I wanna make sure I’m nice n clean when you bend me over’
A nice jet of warm water going up yer ricker is a sensational feeling
I’m a Bidet convert it was a great idea by my good lady

Does one use soap in a bidet?

It might be worth looking into the escape strategy for the loft conversion to see how easy it would be to make your house comply.

Once you go up to there storeys (ground, first and second floor) you need to provide a protected escape route to a place of safety, which means a not passing through any rooms and the corridors being protected by fire doors (so all doors changed).

Dependent upon the size of your house, you may end up creating a loft but losing a room at first floor level as any area where your stairs discharges into will in effect need to become part of the landing.

I often see terraces converted but the stairs drops into a room below so they lose use of this area and the actual gain is limited.
