Football facts that you didn’t know

SO l'Emyrne lost 149-0 to AS Adema in Madagascar in 2002. Every single goal was a deliberate OG. They scored all 149 themselves as a protest against a refereeing decision in their previous match. Absolutely bonkers.

It used to be a regulation that keepers had to wear a green jersey unless they were an England international and thus allowed to wear (I think) yellow.
This brings back memories of my favourite goalie of all time Lev Yashin especially from 1966 World Cup“The Black Panther”

Remember Ken Mulhearn copying him

Little known fact tho is Lev didn’t wear an all black kit
It was in fact a very dark navy blue

Zinedine Zidane was never caught offsiide through out his football career.

Switzerland are the only nation to be eliminated from the world cup without conceding a goal

Great potential quiz question for next season is brewing. Brought to my attention by Richard Osman.

If Wolves and West Ham both go down. And West Brom, Watford or Wrexham don’t come up.

Then next season will be the first in the history of English football without a team beginning with W in the top flight.

Makes you wonder why Forest's red, white, red was deemed to be a clash with our blue, white, blue but our blue, white, blue didn't clash with Chelsea's blue, blue, white. Strange.
Nothing to do with colour clashes and more to do with commitments to kit manufacturers etc. I imagine.

Teams in dark blue like Chelsea, Leicester, Wimbledon, regularly don’t bother with the away kit against City.

I’ve not done a study but it feels like apart from United, Arsenal and Liverpool, we virtually always wear one of the multitude of away kits, no matter what the home side are wearing.

I know mate. It frustrates the fuck out of me. It's just another sign that the entire sport is an advert these days.

Didn't know that (all black kit). Mind you it was all in black and white on the TV anyway!
