Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Very smart of Pep after winning at the Bernabeu to say:
“We are not good enough, we will be better in February……We’ve played better here and lost..”
Players will be in in doubt that there’s more to do and luxuriating in a big win is not really on. No dreaming, lads, back to work.
 
Still getting grief after a win away at Madrid.
Things you love to see.
Whilst true we are easy to cut through atm it's offset by the back 4 (5 with keeper) being a unit that is becoming familiar with each other and just enough flair and guile in forward positions to cause damage.
I'd say with the options available to us to have us in this position going into the new year is exceptional.

First 30 mins was a throw back to the shit show of November last season. Bernardo and foden pressing high and inneffectively leaving the midfield wide open and madrid just running unopposed at our defence. Mbappe in and it probably would have been a different story. Awful tactics.

Second half was better and agree, the subs were on point.

I happened to read some of the matchday thread when the subs were made.
You'd have thought we were bringing on Huey, Luey and fucking Duey with the reactions of half the cunts posting!! Haha!

It's a huge positive that the subs came on and made the difference they did. We've been poor away from home and it's been because of the change in momentum and lack of energy from our midfield. The lads that came on showed that they can do the job that's required. We can't play Foden and Bernardo together in midfield more than 60-70mins. We don't keep the ball well enough for them to be effective and neither has the energy to get up and down so one or both need to be sacrificed to help us see the game through or profit from the space the opposition leaves chasing a goal.
 
We'll have other difficult moments, but we are making progress and once the transition is over, say, March this team will be a thing of beauty.
 
Repeated the mistake of having Bernardo pointlessly press solo as a false 9 first half, crucially corrected it second half though. Good use of subs, I'm sure there were dozens berating his first sub when it happened but it proved to be the key to putting the game to bed.
 
Wondering what the chat was between Pep and Glasner early in the second half ? I think Pep was talking to him about the incident when Donnarumma nicked it off the Palace attacker's toes and the whole ground was claiming a penalty. Maybe Pep felt it necessary to tell Glasner why it wasn't a penalty and for him (Glasner) to not to try and influence the officials as much as he did.
