Will we win the league this season?

Doku and Cherki are the best creators in the league and two of the best players to watch.

Watched Arsenal tonight. They were a bit tired after the CL game 3 days ago. They are better than that. But Saka aside, they lack top quality in attack. Gabriel, the CB, is their most dangerous attacker (set pieces).
I'm not having that they were tired mate! They rested 5 players against Club Brugge and were 3-0 up after 58 mins and will have barley broke a sweat in the second half. The were also playing a Wolves team with 2 points from 15 games at home!

City on the other hand, beat Madrid and Palace away with only changing one player! When your in the grove you cant wait to play the next match, if Arsenal are tired now, they are in for a big shock!

You are right about 22/23. We have just 2 points fewer after 16 games this season - 34 points this season and 36 points back then.

Also, I agree with your points earlier about our defensive record. If it is shit now (as many are suggesting) it was as shit at this stage in 22/23 as it is this season - 16 goals conceded in both seasons :))

We are also in a better position now after 16 games than we were were for the 4 in a row season 23/24.

We were 1 point worse off in 23/24 with 33 points compared to 34 points now and 4th in the table 3 points behind Arsenal and 4 points behind Liverpool. Goals scored the same in both seasons, 38, but our defensive record record was really, really shit - we had conceded 18 in 23/24 compared to 16 this season at the same stage :))

I remain both hopeful and optimistic we win the league again this season despite being without KDB and posssibly without Rodri.

This is not to argue your point but Benfica have won the European cup twice (so are they a historically top club?) and have a champions League winner as manager....albeit one that has watched the game pass him by.
sorry i meant to say 'a manager who hasn't won the Champions League, and isn't a grade a Twat'

It’s a shame we pissed around at the beginning of the season because those two losses wouldn’t happen now I don’t think.
Rather than pissing around, our faltering start is better explained by the fact we didn’t have a pre-season because of the CWC.

You only have to pop onto an Arsenal forum for 2 mins for a read and we’ve got them feeling like they have to be perfect.. which is the ideal scenario because that’s when the players and fans feel the pressure every game. And that’s when sides drop points. To get them in that place after 16 games is more a reflection of them rather than us.

Incredible seems a bit of a stretch
especially when you consider that they have kept one clean sheet in their last 6 league games whilst having 7 put past them!

Meanwhile our shit defense has 3 clean sheets from out last 6 and also conceded 7 (albeit 4 of them were against Fulham)!

I would say that Benfica are definitely a top club historically, everybody knows their name, and I knew all about them even as a snotty nosed nipper back in the mid 60s ..... they also had one of the most famous players in history playing for them in Eusebio.

They have a long and rich history dating back 121 years, with 38 domestic title wins and 28 Portugese Cup wins, to go with their two European Cup triumphs in the early 1960s (they've won almost 90 trophies overall) ..... its probably fair to say that the vast majority of football fans all around the world, when asked who they considered Portugals top club to be, would answer Benfica ..... they are, without doubt, one of the most famous clubs in World football, with an estimated global fanbase of around 14 million.

And it really wouldn't matter if Jose Mourinho was there or not, Benfica are Benfica, and always will be .... but, aside from the pleasure and convenience of working at one of his old clubs and in his homeland, their name and history has definitely attracted him.

And Craven Cottage had only seen ten Premier League goals all season up to that point. We nearly doubled the total in one night. Sometimes crazy things happen.

Need to keep focus and win next weekend and go top prior to their game. Then see how they react to that. In the past they have wobbled.

Everton away is not a straight forward match either.

I'm still feeling very bullish.

Everyone says we're not playing "well" but we seem to be winning a lot of tough games lately.

There's no way we end this season without at least one trophy. Arsenal will run out of steam in the same way they have literally every single season for the last 20 years, and we've definitely found a knack for shithousing our way to victories too many times for it to be down to luck.

I quite like this cuntball version of Pep.

Reading some of the bedwetters earlier posts in this thread is wild. Thankfully most of the have gone quiet now

The 25/26 title winners will be the worst champions since Leicester. Whether that’s Arsenal, Villa or us. Just very average sides when compared to what’s gone before. Our 17/18 side would get 100 points again with this level of competition.
You’re forgetting about last season’s mediocre dipper team

Yep, that was a crazy night all right, but it was one of those games that will always live in the memory ... whoever bought a ticket for that match will have witnessed one of the most exciting matches that they are ever likely to see, and definitely got their moneys worth!

I actually think we have more chance finishing bottom half than we do winning the league.

We have regressed so badly, especially on the road, that I can’t see us getting even a point away at any of Liverpool, United, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Spurs, Palace and Chelsea.. and can’t even see us beating the likes of Forest, Everton or Sunderland on the road.

That means we need to pick a lot of points up at home to even compete for European places. We haven’t beaten Arsenal or Liverpool at home since the treble season so can’t see that changing.

Going to be a very tough season resulting in rebuilding again after our first failed attempt at a rebuild.
Yeah we’re terrible
