10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

Can anyone put their finger on which player from the past that he plays like? Doesnt even have to be city related. Bernabia prob the closest but hes just so unique its hard to know who he reminds me of, maybe Cazorla at a push. It has me stumped.

What a player though.

Claims for motm are a bit over the top, he along with the rest of our attack were poor first half and barely involved before a really good second half. That Foden like spin on the ball to then release Reijnders who really should have squared it for a Haaland tap in was glorious, best moment of the match by far then obviously the assist for Foden too.

Hopefully he starts contributing goals too, not a complaint but he has it in him to be comfortably hitting double figures and we need more reliable sources of goals aside from haaland and Foden. Don't see why that can't be added to his game on top of the creating.

Benarbia is the closest city player, outside of city, Ronaldinho definitely.

Mercurial and I dont think we’re getting the best out of him still out on the right. Another assist and could have have another for reijnders chance.
Imagine when he settles in the second seaosn ;)

Eyal Berkovic
Think a lot more like Bernabia. Loved Berkovic as a player but he was different. Ran his arse off every game and kept the ball moving quite simply most of the time but with an eye for the killer pass. Cherki is much more of a maverick and with the spins on either foot and like Bernabia the ability to do things nobody else would even see.

A truly wonderful player so far. A very particular style as it sometimes feels like he slows down the play, but then somehow finds a killer pass. His decision making is absolutely top notch. Only 22, let that sink in.

With the dribbling ability of Kinkladze. His two footedness is so unbelievable it's hard to know which is his best foot.

I think that this player has a higher ceiling than anyone we have had...ANYONE.
Of course, he may not achieve that: hard work, mental strength, humility, and luck play a big part, but technically I think he is as good as ANYONE we have had in our team, and I am including David Silva and DeBruyne in that conversation.
The stamina to do it year after year as those two did is something I am really hoping for.
