He had a good game, took his chance very well, but I'd place Cherki, Nunes, and Gvardiol above him. Strong case for Big Erl as well. TV pundits talking bollocks.
I sometimes wonder which game they watch .... we all know who played well, and who didn't, we watch this team every week, and the players we, as fans, award the man of the match to have usually played well enough to merit it .... but half of the time some of these pundit clowns just don't seem to see what we see ..... Phil did okay today, he didnt have a bad game, and he took his goal really well, but over the 90 minutes his performance fell short of the impressive performances that one or two of his team mates delivered.

From the mUen web site Player Ratings:

Nunes: An excellent cross for Nunes and he played his part in a defence that really earned their clean sheet. 7

Given he crossed to himself surely be deserved at least a 9

Donnarumma 7.5
Nunes 8
Dias 6.5
Gvardiol 7.5
O'Reilly 6
Nico 5
Bernardo 6
Reijnders 6.5
Cherki 9
Foden 7.5
Haaland 8

Thought we were average and kept giving the ball away stupidly in our own half. Also we seem to dawdle on the ball way to often. Dias inparticler does this!

Lol, I knew Nunes was quick, but i never realised he was THAT quick !

That's the MEN for you, they aren't known for checkin' their own work before putting it in the paper!

It’s always great when you get a great team performance but it makes this choice almost impossible. That result was only possible because everyone was excellent.
I usually pick on the basis of ‘if they hadn’t played we wouldn’t have won’.
So the Viking gets it.

Just watched the game back this morning. Gvardiol was immense!

I've been a bit critical of his lack of focus and concentration at times, but he was rock solid at Selhurst Park, in fact after the first 15 mins or so, both him and Dias shut most of Palaces goal attempts down ... the entire back line did, throwing their bodies into blocks, tackles, challenges .... I felt comfortable enough after Haalands opener, but i just knew that once Foden had increased the lead we would hold out for the win because our defence, by that point, looked totally in control, and Gvardiol was more than playing his part in that.

Both Gvardiol+Dias were class in Madrid n’all.
