14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

I don't think Nico is bad by any means but we can't rely on 30 year olds Rodri and Kovacic to always be there and healthy or perform as they have previously.

Think we need to dip into the winter market for a midfielder especially as it's not likely Kalvin gets a game.

Unless there's someone in the academy who can fill in like Nico O'Reilly did!

That may be the difference as the games will start coming thick and fast!

We're proper stuck in this mess mostly because of Kalvin and Kovacic. (Both of them on pay roll) If we had any half-decent central midfielders, we wouldn't even be arsed about resting Gonzalez or whether to shift NOR into the middle.
That problem, and a whole load of other issues, can be sorted with one move.
Elliot Anderson in January

You make it sound like Kovacic and Phillips are to blame for their absences. One is out injured and the other is being ignored by Guardiola.

I hate people who can’t understand that this is his first bad game in ages. He’s exhausted. He plays every game of every minute. He never gets a break. We don’t have any subs. Rodri is AWOL he’s not even on the bench.
Worst game in a while, got caught a couple of times in possession mainly cos he had no outball as Palace pressed well.Needs a rest midweek and hopefully back to his best against the Hammers.

Am i the only person who thought he did well today? If thats his worst its a pretty high bar. Even at our peak we didnt get a win like that at selhurst park, he battled for every ball and in most cases won them. Maybe not at his abs best with his passing but still more than adequate.

We cant afford to lose him even for a minute as we have no one fit that can even do half of what he does. For that reason alone i expect him to start in the carabao cup.

It wasn't a "bad" game FFS, he gave the ball away a couple of times, he also put in one tackle he'd no right to win.

He plays virtually every game, and is all over the pitch putting fires out, needs a break for sure, and he's basically doing it on his own, he was in a back three several times today, that's not really his job, but he still does it.

Yep! Bring flogged to death already and had literally NO help around him

Give him a break....literally! He didn't have a bad game or a good one, after several good ones. He just looked a bit leggy. I'm very impressed with the lad.
Can someone explain what Bernardo was meant to be doing? Pep had Foden, Reijnders, Bernardo, and Cherki not helping out even a little bit defensively. It worked out but Pep stressed the shit out of Nico and the back 4 IMO needlessly...

Another top showing and his progression is easy on the eye. Still gets caught turning every now and again but we ain’t winning any matches without him.

I really hope he is not dumped to the side when Rodri returns. The midfield needs both. One winger is enough in this team and one CF leaves room for both.

if we can fit them both in and give it a chance it could become a brick wall.

Simple, Rodri in Bernardo out...
