Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Football is changing whether we like it or not. It's more sterile, more safe, more PC, more woke.
Sing a song about always being the victims, stewards look to throw you out, the press/media pile in. Yet sing about Harold Shipman and that's fine.
The people around you arent real fans. I was asked not to swear by a little kids parents, its the South Stand go to the family stand !.
Getting tickets so you can be with your mates is mostly impossible so that splits us up from being a small singing group to sitting in silence around people who dont know the songs.

I think trying to get an old school atmosphere is rare now. It's not coming back.

Plus the price of attending for travelling home fans has gone through the roof. I could put up with paying around 50quid and it being abit shit, poor atmosphere, poor game. Now its over a 100quid and sone, and I look for more value for money. Mid week games are over 200quid. Thats alot of money well over a grand person I use to spend, I dont feel i am getting value for my money now.
Whether that be the game where the away just park the bus, whether its the atmosphere, whether its not being sat with my lad and our mates. Whether its 12 hrs in the car. Our just all of it.

The team are fucking amazing and ive seen some fantastic games games and great atmosphere like villa 3-2 RM, PSG. Now i can't qualify these games !

The Etihad use to feel like coming home, now I have no feelings about the place. Seeing people wearing team shirts that aren't even playing City buying City shirts to wear over the top, in large groups all sat together, me and my lad sat apart, its not for me I'm sorry. By the time I enter the Etihad I'm disillusioned.

If I lived round the corner I might have a different take on attending matches.

If I can get tickets for away matches I'll grap them, going away is more old school. Much better atmosphere and mostly 100% City fans. Still love away matches more fun, more lively.

My spend on seeing Oasis was about 160/170 all in. Not much more then attending the Etihad.

Anyway that's my normal rant over.

This thread reflects the actual topic with the same people making the same points and nobody actually doing anything about it.

If you think a drum will improve the atmosphere then take a drum into the stadium (if you're allowed) and prove yourself right

If you think the Amorim/Zabaleta songs improve the atmosphere then sing them, but don't be offended when so many supporters think the exact opposite
If you think those songs are no longer relevant and don't inspire the players on the pitch, then sing something else.

Stop blaming the early leavers because as somebody posted earlier, that's more to do with the transport infrastructure, as the vast majority just want to get home, especially those families with young kids who haven't got the option of going for a pint whilst the traffic dies.
I left in the 92nd minute yesterday and got home 30 minutes earlier than normal on a train where I could actually breathe rather than one that resembled a cattle truck

In reality most of the singers are like sheep and literally need a leader.

However that type of ."Older Bloke with a Megaphone" is all a bit "Pete Boyle" and works far better on the continent.

It certainly needs a bit of organisation with 3-4 people putting their head above the parapet and doing something about it.

Doing something about it means singing at the top of your voice for most of the game. If you can’t do that then you aren’t in much of a position to lecture other fans.

You’ve told us a few times important it is for you to bring away fans into the home end. That isn’t part of the solution:

I don't need to explain myself to anyone.
I've been going to city home and away since I was a kid in 1984.
I don't care if that's longer than you have been going or not.
The club .
And football to me isn't what it was.
I'll move on and leave it to people who think football now is great
Thanks for sharing your comments with us.
Enjoy your time away and I’m sure you won’t be missed

We copied the Poznan, then why not copy what Dortmund fans are doing, or any another club that generates a good atmosphere ?

Oh do fuck off you boring twat!

I warned in September that Galatasaray fans would be on our end and you were one of those who posted that I was talking bollocks

Next thing you were wanting Danny Wilson sacked when it was obvious that some City fans had got tickets for their Leeds mates.

I only mention a bigger allocation for away fans when it's obvious that City won't sellout for a home cup game (which isn't the same as your accusation)

And yes I do sing but not about Zabaleta when Nunes has just assisted

Is that the best you’ve got lol. The point I’ve made several times is that if City fans filled the seats it would be hard for Gala fans to get tickets outside corporate / hospitality areas. I’ve got no big issue if away fans keep their heads but it has a negative affect on the atmosphere.

You were in a tiny minority of posters who seemed to have very little sympathy for a badly injured Blue who couldn’t leave hospital for at least 10 days. You’ve got the opportunity to correct that impression. It’s up to you.

When I was wrong on the Danny Wilson stuff I corrected my position and apologised. The fact remained that City published a very misleading statement that has been proven to be wrong on a number of counts. Some Blues in that area of the ground are thinking twice about renewing. I will be renewing btw.

I agree with all your points about organisation and the atmosphere, however there would be uproar if that was attempted.
Getting people out of the bar, or finishing their ciggy would be tough enough.

“Firming up the south stand”

FFS.

It’s over. Forever.
Not matter what 1894 do you and other people complain about it.(on BM)

Why don’t you contact the club and meet with the club to discuss ways of trying to improve the atmosphere at the Etihad instead of doing nothing about it and apart from complaining about other City fans who are trying to do something to improve the atmosphere along with the club. Or do as you normally do, stand or stay sat in your seat, and join in with the clappy, clapppy chants.

The irony being, you are one of the posters on this thread who regularly complains about the atmosphere, what chants have been sung during the match, and what chants the fans should and shouldn’t be singing during the match.

FFS!

What the fuck is this nonsense, they should be all over owning the standing section in the north stand. How can you "firm up" something that has already failed??, game over for atmosphere I'm afraid
Already failed?

So, how many days, weeks months, years has SSL1 failed?

This thread is getting more and more knee-jerk and ridiculous every day?

The irony of this. You spend all day everyday whingeing and fucking complaining about everything 24/7. The club, the ticketing, the press, the rags, the ticket sales, our fans, the early leavers…. You never fucking stop.

Yet the minute someone says anything about our supposed atmosphere group you get all uppity and arsy.

Grow up.

From the CB block 31 it was fine in the second half.
West Ham nothing special like most away supports.
Exactly.

Anyone reading some of the comments after yesterday would think the atmosphere was shit.

Some of our fans need to go to other clubs matches in the PL and see and hear first hand what their home support is like.

Spurs was shit yesterday.

Leeds was very good.

It will be, because Leeds have maintained the local and core support.

But don’t forget, Leeds couldn’t fill Eland Road when the team was in the Championship, and the support wasn’t always great then.

I think it’s a positive step that 1894 and the OSC are taking the lead to try to get more passionate Blues in the more vocal areas of the ground (intended to be vociferous in terms of the expanded North Stand Upper).

1894 were being criticised on here when they weren’t being involved in plans for the North Stand Upper so credit is due when they come forward with practical solutions.
