Football is changing whether we like it or not. It's more sterile, more safe, more PC, more woke.
Sing a song about always being the victims, stewards look to throw you out, the press/media pile in. Yet sing about Harold Shipman and that's fine.
The people around you arent real fans. I was asked not to swear by a little kids parents, its the South Stand go to the family stand !.
Getting tickets so you can be with your mates is mostly impossible so that splits us up from being a small singing group to sitting in silence around people who dont know the songs.
I think trying to get an old school atmosphere is rare now. It's not coming back.
Plus the price of attending for travelling home fans has gone through the roof. I could put up with paying around 50quid and it being abit shit, poor atmosphere, poor game. Now its over a 100quid and sone, and I look for more value for money. Mid week games are over 200quid. Thats alot of money well over a grand person I use to spend, I dont feel i am getting value for my money now.
Whether that be the game where the away just park the bus, whether its the atmosphere, whether its not being sat with my lad and our mates. Whether its 12 hrs in the car. Our just all of it.
The team are fucking amazing and ive seen some fantastic games games and great atmosphere like villa 3-2 RM, PSG. Now i can't qualify these games !
The Etihad use to feel like coming home, now I have no feelings about the place. Seeing people wearing team shirts that aren't even playing City buying City shirts to wear over the top, in large groups all sat together, me and my lad sat apart, its not for me I'm sorry. By the time I enter the Etihad I'm disillusioned.
If I lived round the corner I might have a different take on attending matches.
If I can get tickets for away matches I'll grap them, going away is more old school. Much better atmosphere and mostly 100% City fans. Still love away matches more fun, more lively.
My spend on seeing Oasis was about 160/170 all in. Not much more then attending the Etihad.
Anyway that's my normal rant over.
