We lack pace out wide when Doku is injured & I'd much rather we sign an established player who can hit the ground running than hoping they can fulfill their potential in 12/18 months time.I didn’t mean Semenyo’s personality, just the inevitable disruption that signing an established player entails. Guardiola’s hand has also been tied by injuries, too. Marmoush, Ait-Nouri, Bobb, Stones, Rodri, and maybe even Kovacic will be available from February onwards, so Guardiola can rely on consistency now, knowing that there are strong reinforcements over the horizon.
Semenyo is a fine player, but Viana has shown that he’s adept at finding quality outside of England.
