Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Don’t see where he fits in unless we’re offloading at least Savio & Bobb, and even then Doku & Cherki are our preferred starters.

If Rodri comes back before Xmas he won’t be anywhere near his previous levels for months. A midfielder to help Nico is much more of a priority.

Whilst I certainly wouldn’t say no to Semenyo I would suggest that it still feels like we are short at centre midfield and in defence.

The forward positions seem to be the only ones where pep has some sort of trust for the back up players but midfield and defence there appears to be none.

Having said that our bench on Saturday looked so bereft of attacking back up that maybe it does need to be done!!
Are we short in centre mid tho? We have Rodri and Kovacic out injured. If we signed one in jan and then they were both fit we'd have a senior CM not making the bench I think.

I wouldn't move on CM till the summer, when we know who's coming and going.

I don’t think not signing someone because we are relying on Kovacic is a great strategy, won’t be here next season.

Seems we've offered Ake as part of our offer to Bournemouth. Can see this benefiting the lad as he pushes for that world cup spot. The dutch probably have the best defence in the world, so sitting on the bench isn't doing Ake any favours.

A wonderful player for us over his tenure. Top lad. Nothing but good things to say if this is his farewell. Not to say it is, but the swap does make sense.

We need to bring a centre half in if that’s the case or recall Reis.

I take the point but realistically Kovacic/Bernardo are going to move on in the summer. If the opportunity presents itself, and we have a chance to bed in a midfielder, in preparation for next season it would be foolish not to take it. If that means Kovacic kicks his heels on 100k plus a week I don’t have an issue with that. He has played 4 minutes this season in the Premier league and with players requiring a bedding in period we cannot rely on him and we have to look to next season.

As for Rodri sadly he has been around the first team squad for 6 months and yet he cannot put a regular run of games together. Bringing a CM transfer would be the sensible option.

Buy a natural LB with a genuine defensive instinct and that frees NOR up to move up the pitch. Like getting two for the price of one.

No idea how serious the interest in Semenyo is from City, but a quality midfield player is more of a priority, assuming such a player can be signed in the next transfer window

Anderson at Forest looks a great option but probably unavailable at this moment in time.

We bought RAN for that, can’t see us buying another left back. Unless the club decide RAN isn’t good enough and get rid of him.

Only 5 hrs left to choose between gods own and the theatre of dead players. Tough choice!

This city team need more goal scorers. 2 forwards(Bobb/sav) ain’t good enough to hold down a place so that leaves it open. Cherki and Phil can be used more centrally. Also cover for the time Doku spends on the sidelines.

Explosive player for £60m is pretty decent value. We will make that back in sales and be stronger.

Still need a new cm but that will have to wait while we see how rodders gets on. Adding goals is a no brainer.

I know we did, but he isn't the type of player I described.

Nothing like a natural defender. He was exposed in CWC and continues to be every time he plays.

His appearance record perhaps suggests that he isn't considered good enough by those that matter.

I thought that he looked really exciting going forward when he first arrived, but that's not a priority - for me - when looking at a fullback.
