Jack Grealish - Everton on loan

I don't think anyone ever denied his natural talent. But he seems genuinely thick. Pep could probably never get through to him. Likely the same reason Palmer left. But, surely, from a single conversation Pep could have picked up that the guy was dense and unlikely to be able to match his/our high standards.
A lot like your posts!

You mean the standard set by the treble winning team that he made 40 appearances in?

Some strange takes here as there always were about his performances. He isn't doing anything different now than he did for us. He plays his game. He controls the ball and the tempo, and he is capable of moments of top-quality. He is absolutely not thick, nor dense, in fact he is a highly sensitive young man with a wonderful capacity to empathise with those less fortunate than himself, a truly admirable skillset.

He was not the main man with us but he was a very capable cog in our wheel. He helped our team to achieve the most incredible performances in the history of the English game. His replacements are also given a hard time, and we must reach a point where we realise that our wide men have a tough job. Doku and Savinho are oft-criticised here, just as Jack was, and they face, most of the time, parked buses and the doubling up of defenders. That leads to regular passes back in to the central areas or the risk of lost possession and quick turnover, which is exactly what our opponents are waiting for, game after game.

In Rayan Cherki, we have a potential genius who can create against that challenge, and who is willing to take the risks required to unlock it. If our team accepts that, and covers for it, then he will be given the license to take the risks that others are not, or were not. His level of chance creation is unique in the world game, but let's be clear that it is allowed to thrive because of what is around him. It is always about the whole team and what is required at certain moments. The best teams are a blend of complimentary strengths, and as Cherki can afford to take risks in the inside-right position because Nunes has the physicality to cope with the fast break on his side, Nico O does for same for Doku.

Appreciate what we have and what we have had. These times are unique and quite unbelievable to a fan of 56 years.

That's a great post.
IMHO absolutely spot on.

Your calm words are as effective in here as Buddha's preaching in a Biergarten, but you still keep going and you have my respect for that.

The Evertonians I know including the misses and family are so delusional about Grealish. All I’m hearing is he’s found his spiritual home , he wasn’t loved at City and Everton fans have embraced him and appreciate him. Peps ruined him etc…
I’ve tried telling them he is adored at City and his feeling is mutual. He’s won multiple trophies . The only slant was his professionalism, which is why he’s at Everton. The stories over Xmas with Everton are fabricated apparently according to Everton fans and he wouldn’t do such a thing. . Whether or not it’s true or not they will get a rude awakening at some point as much as I love him

To be fair though I think there is something in the suggestion that Jack is not Brain of Britain. He didn't seem to adapt his game at all whatever the circumstances so it is fair to assume he was not one of Pep's favourites. He was great in the treble season, especially in the CL, because keeping the ball is the only way to defend against the very best teams. I have no problems with Grealish though. His star shone very brightly for a short period in one of the greatest teams of all time. Not a bad legacy.

So maybe dense isn't the word that people like to use to describe him. But this is good example of an inability to learn for a 30-year old man. He's our Rashford. Probably a nice guy but unprofessional and thick as pig sh1t.
He certainly doesn't do himself any favours.....seems like a decent guy though.

The rumours of him being on the piss over Christmas are tue, and City are more furious than Everton as they see it as potentially jeopardising any permanent move now Moyes has questions over his professionalism. There was genuine hope after the start he made we would get close to an acceptable fee from them at the end of the season however if he comes back there's very little interest in him elsewhere.

The photos shown in the press were a load of bollocks, he had different haircuts in them, and it was reported on the 20th. Do you really think if he was drinking then, it would cause him to miss a game 7 days later?
