I think people confuse how strong the league is with how strong City were 2-6 years ago. I would suggest that, overall, the league is stronger now.

But the test will be how the five clubs perform in Europe. We will see.

Yep and City fans forget that when we were gaining 98 points plus, fans of formerly successful clubs that used to win the league with circa 80 points were all saying the league was weak as piss as one team was scoring so many points. It’s why trying to gauge the strength of a league by points or how well certain clubs are, or are not, doing is a fools errand.

As you say, the only way to gauge the [relative] strength of a league is how it’s members perform against the best from other leagues.

At the beginning of the season, I thought Arsenal would win, but City would challenge. City have been getting stronger by the month. We still have some secret weapons to call upon, e.g., Khusanov in central defence, and if we can sign Semenyo he will add goals from the right and give us cover if Doku gets injured (he frequently does). Still, I think it's obvious that to be favourites, City need Rodri, and that is in the lap of the Gods.

Arsenal and City fans should both be very hopeful. Both teams have weaknesses. It's good training to be able to communicate and hold your ground in hostile territory. Well done.

If we did it it would be "that's what champions do".

We went to Leicester on boxing day in in 2015, they played like a relegation threatened side and held on for a 0-0 despite us being well on top including Sergio missing a real sitter. The win would have put us top, but they stayed top and won it. Getting the result is all important, how you do it isn't.

I think you can safely assume it's better simply because of the money flushing around in the PL and the ability for sides throughout the league to offer more money to players across Europe. We can attract very good players throughout the league because of it.

I don't think you can necessarily measure directly with how we do in Europe because naturally a more competitive PL takes away from the ability to perform as well in Europe. You can't necessarily rotate/rest quite as much.
 
For the first time this season, I think we can. Looking at Arsenal's performances and our respective fixtures and current form, I do think its possible. particularly if we get a fit Rodri back, Doku back to his best for when he returns and Semenyo.

We had a stonewall penalty turned down right in front of the City fans in that game.

Definitely wouldn't say that if it was us
Earlier in the season they ran the narrative that we can't we can't win the title as only Haaland scoring the goals
 
How long until Khusanov steps into City's central defence?

I think he's very close. His pace and power is now well known and he is a natural defender. He will strengthen City's central defence. We concede chances in the absence of Rodri but Khusanov is a very strong defender. Any blue who was at the City v Brentford game would have seen Khusanov play a very impressive match.

2026 will be Khusanov's year.

But is the champions league as strong as it was? The whole thing is a redundant argument.
