It’s an odd one but one of those fan humour moments at an away game:

There was another version of the song sung if you were there, not very PC, and influenced by the viral pandemic and a certain cohort affected most in the country.

Two great moments by City fans in Sheffield for me:

End of season game at Hillsborough ( when the Uwe Rosler chant went up big style) and Sheff Weds were doing their lap of honour - Trevor Francis was manager and from the away end we belted out “There’s only one Trevor Francis”. He was genuinely taken aback and quite emotional about it.

And the second was at Bramhall Lane in the dark days when Sheff U fans sang “ We hate Wednesday”. The City end came back perfectly with “We hate Saturdays / We hate Saturdays”

Absolute class and always have been

I remember the "We hate Saturdays" chant. I was there. Always loved an away day at Sheffield - hence my location. Blues are always in good voice and despite moving away from MCR aged 21, I've seen Rosler, Goater and Aguero score at Hillsborough.

Fantastic story. I'll be telling the Hull City fans that one in 15 minutes on my dinner break.

That Wednesday away game on the final day of the season had a really loud away end as I recall - I also fell asleep during the first half as Id been in The Frog and Parrott for 3 hours pre-match.

I was at the game but dont remember that particular episode, i do remember 'West End Girls' being on a virtually continuous loop however, oh and losing.
Special to Wadsley Bridge I think
