Usually I’m against any form of military action, but have you seen what’s happening in Nigeria? Huge amounts of innocent people/ mainly Christians are being massacred and the country is being overrun with terrorists.

What do you suggest we/ the rest of the world do to stop that happening? Becuase diplomacy and doing nothing sure isn’t working.

Reading the reports the Nigerian government was involved in these strikes as well

Nothing will ever cause Trump harm. He sleeps well at night. And by day. He knows this. He is bombproof, he has radicalised too many people. The only time he will be scrutinised and held to any form of account is after he has croaked it and the maga silliness has passed. It will change eventually, but will take 20 yrs

I'm not so sure, he's increasingly frail, mentally and physically, but his narcissism is not diminished and he knows he's losing and he hates losing, that's why he gets more dangerous as he knows his time is running out.

National sovereignty means nothing to him, America is the most powerful county in the world, what's the point of power if you don't use it.

We're in a pre-1914 world now.

He isnt losing, there is nothing he can lose. He cant run again. His party may lose seats at the mid term elections, but it wont impact him much really. Anything contentious he signs an executive order to do it anyway and just lets it go through the courts process. He has no major policy plans, he is just acting out on past grievances and spitefulness because he can. He was impeached twice and breezed through both of them. He was re elected despite everyone knowing what he was about. He is untouchable. Only the court of history will hold to any account, and that will take 20yrs for the mindset to alter for people to realise it. Sounds a long time now but its not really. For context, 20 yrs ago we had Vassell and Samaras playing up front. I agree his narcissism is worse than ever, but this is due to the support he has that havent had that space to reflect yet because he is everywhere and a constant noise

I agree he's politically rootless, he's captured the Republican party but he is not of it. He's 79 years old he doesn't give a shit for the future, he lives for the moment and in his unhinged way he's determined that moment will be his.

I'm not so sure about that 20 year time frame, Trump harnessed a real anxiety in the USA and it has echoes here and throughout western Europe. Trump is a chancer who harnessed a force greater than himself, that anxiety will not fade when he's gone,Trump is not a cause, he's a symptom.

I personally think he is a cause. Look at the shit stirrers that have caught the tiny imaginations of the chronically stupid over here. Farage- copycat clone. Tiny Tommy - clone. Marine Le Pen abroad - clone. He has infected everything by demonising foreigners and blaming all ills on immigrants, creating enemies amongst those who hold him account via the myth of calling journalists fake news, and managing to create his own narrative through the manipulation of social media. Nobody else has managed it, but others have followed the method. Eventually people will grow to understand they have been manipulated done over. It will be a process though

You could also point to Jean-Marie Le Pen or Enoch Powell or Pat Buchanan as earlier politicians representing many of the same ideas as Trump but lacking the right political environment or force of personality to achieve higher office. Economic anxiety and distrust of difference are facts of life for a large number of voters and there are always going to be politicians looking to channel that.

Trump is a particularly idiotic incarnation of the archetype and the potential consequences are more serious because of American's position in the world, but the only thing that's unusual about him is his charisma/ability as a con artist.

In 2.5 years you might have finished the original design spec and done a PR 1st steel cutting, but it’s very doubtful.

The USS Zumwalt destroyer was a new ship design (vastly smaller to Trump’s), it took 3 years from ordering (ie years after the design process), for it to be launched, and another 3 years for it to be handed over/commissioned into the Navy.

Its just pure smoke and mirrors, echoing the grandiose propaganda schemes of another fascist dictatorship from almost a century ago.
