But thats normal, that doesnt mean we dont develop players

We want world class players not just "good players"

Again, other than maybe Barcelona, which team are consistently using their youth players that made it to the top level

PSG have a young tema but thwy bought almost all of them

Chelsea have James and Chalobah, and the tried forcing Chalobah out. They did however give up on Musiala, Livramento & Hall to name a few

United are stunting Mainoo's potential, hes the only a academy product thats broken through since Rashford who they also forced out.

Liverpool are now down to Jones, whos a bit part player.

Spurs aren't making any stars

Newcastle let their best 2 go in Anderson & Minteh, Longstaff was compare dto Rice, never worked out

Real Madrid left back was academy products...but left for 2 years to develop

And let's be honest, few have left City and become world class players elsewhere.

while that is true it’s hard to forget selling Palmer to Chelsea. That was a big mistake.

A poor game to judge him by. Not valid, in my opinion.
Who was good that night? Who? It was a stupid team, put out by Pep — God knows why — who literally didn't know each other as a team in match circumstances. Pep more or less admitted as much.
By all means criticise him for performances in other matches where others played quite well. That one should simply be discounted, whether positively or negatively.

It wasn't. He's thrived at Chelsea (well for first 6 months) but there's no guarantee he would have done the same at City when under instructions on his role and no pens to stat pad.

Palmer started that season (and pre-season) playing really well and have taken that into the season. I get why he was sold as he had not shown much the previous season but the signs that he was stepping up were there.

Maybe ,maybe not ,either way he hasn’t had as great last 12 months ,good chance he doesn’t make the world cup squad. Plus we now have a better player in Cherki.

I like him, I'd rather we kept him but I'm also not convinced he would be getting the attention he does at Chelsea (or the minutes) had he stayed here playing under instruction from Pep.

Palmer has been done to death, we know we got it wrong. But thats the only one

And we know why he left, we had Mahrez, Bernardo & Foden for the wing, he barely got any minutes and the club felt the fee, £45mil was significant which it was

But yea...we got it wrong, but we also won the title that season and he didnt. He took his chance in a team that was going through a billion pound overhaul that to this day is as chaotic as ever. Hes not better than Phil imo

Hes the only one we can say we got it wrong. We lost some depth but never a first XI player

Diaz was never good enough to start, Sancho was never good enough to start, Eric Garcia was never good enough to start, Lavia is too injury prone to realise his potential, Borges was never good enough, McAtee, Muric, Tommy Doyle, Kayky, Borges, Matondo, Charles, Edozie etc.

We dont usually get title wrong. Its only been 1, maybe Rogers but hes a weird one as he was never a super prospect and needed that Boro sale before he made it at Villa

Where do people come up with this nonsense about penalties "stat padding"? Penalties have been in football since the beginning and have always been a legitimate way to score a goal. If you score 95% plus of your penalties like a Palmer or Kane does then that is a skill in itself. People will be saying scoring a free-kick from 20 yards out is stat padding next.

Does judging a player as not good enough based on one bad game, where everyone played poorly—including Cherki, who seems immune to criticism—not seem foolish to you?

Pep giving our academy players just the odd chance here and there, compared to seemingly endless opportunities for lesser players who were bought, has always been my biggest gripe with him.

Sometimes things happen that cause PTSD.

Sterling was one of the best wingers in the world till that Lyon miss!

Bobb had his horror injury and I suspect it's caused PTSD issues as well.

Maybe he just needs a change of scenery.. wouldn't mind him going to Germany or Italy and then coming back at all.. but I don't think he's ready for the PL currently.
 
He might be on his way. Probably Dortmund. Brilliant move for him, and he will become a top player there, no doubt.

Not doing a good season but he still has better stats than Savinho by far.

Might sound crazy to us as shipping off Cancelo was initally and likely we'll never know the details, but it's not too difficult to surmise that something has obviously happened behind the scenes, and a call has been made.

Wish him the best and still remember his goal vs Newcastle fondly!
