It seems to be a big thing nowadays but I just dont get.

All those brave RNIL volunteers, coast guards etc lost their Christmas day with their family because of swimmers ignoring a yellow weather warning.

The sea is a very dangerous place and anyone with any sense would not enter the sea under a yellow weather warning. Cold water shock can kill quickly, the power of the sea is not to be messed with.

It's madness .... but there are groups of people in the UK who do this kinda thing on a regular basis , especially on the east coast ..... fancy jumping in the North Sea in these temperatures!

A lad I once knew did a winter swim in a river or lake near Leicester .... he landed up having to be rescued, and resuscitated, the medics who attended thought he was a 'goner'!

I'm inclined to think we should give the RNLI the day off and let Darwin take effect with these idiots.
For once I'm in favour of the health and safety fun police getting involved and stopping this nonsense.
I agree with the Darwin bit , if they're daft enough to do it then leave them to it rather than try to stop them.

Sheeple latching onto something they think is funny/cool and they can post on social media about for likes and say "hey everyone look at me". It's also the mentality of doing something you've been told not to do because it makes you feel empowered or rebellious.

Sparing no thoughts for RNLI teams who work Christmas Day or even their own families who may lose someone due to bad decision making, as happened to two families on Christmas Day this year.

OP, I totally agree with your post, can I also add mountain rescue to the brave RNLI.
Christmas day spoilt because a selfish brat wants to do a youtube vid of himself going up a snow covered mountain in jeans and trainers.

Those 2 idiot swimmers have now ruined every remaining Christmas for their families. Selfish, stupid bastards.

The properly done and official sea swims, sea wades more like, are watched over by the emergency services. I've done one myself. Made loads of cash for the RNLI. And it was very cold. Made up by whisky in the pub after.

But sadly now you get loads of twats/ influencers filming themselves climbing mountains/ swimming in the sea/ jumping off cliffs without proper clothing and/or assistance. I'd just leave them...if they die, they die.

Unless it happens in the waterways of Manchester in which case it has to be attributed to the pusher
