47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

I don’t think anyone really played on the LW on Saturday. It was like it was an empty space.

O’Reilly was meant to be pushing up on the left and Gvardiol covering at left back but we needlessly gave the ball away so much that we were constantly turning around and running back defensively so O’Reilly could never hold the left flank for long enough to make an impact in that area of the pitch.

It’s one of the reasons Pep was going so mad on the touchline.

Foden was more of a left inside forward.

Love the Foden debate. Probably already the greatest player our academy / youth team has ever produced. How people, especially City fans can't appreciate how good he he's been and continues to be is utterly baffling.
Odegaard ffs!

We've a fair few crayon eaters on here tbf.

Almost made that goal brilliantly, and I thought our two best chances in the first half came from his passes to Cherki and that fake-shot pass to Reijnders, but Pep has got to drop the latter and stop shifting him to the left-hand side. I know he's not holding the touchline as he used to, but since he's so one-footed, it limits him massively as he's unable to cut or receive the ball onto his left and shoot, which is his superpower, for lack of a better term.

Bad game but there will be excuses again
Brother, you were even criticizing his corners. You clearly have some issues with him.

And he does have an excuse. Why he, of all players, has to adjust his position for lesser players constantly has always been my issue with Pep. If Foden weren't an academy player and was bought for 100M, won POTY as a right-sided center midfielder, would Pep continually move him around as he does? No chance.

Much better as the second half went on, didn't want to pass to Haaland though for some reason.

Yup, I said this is how you fit Phil and Reijnders together, by somewhat sacrificing Phil for Reijnders due to is adaptability.

But Doku is injured, Marmoush is out, and Savinho not yet gonna start for us so that's the way it is.

You can see why we want Semenyo.

I am hoping when Semenyo comes in we can have him and Doku on the wing with Foden and Cherki in the 8 and 10 like Silva and KDB were behind Sterling, Sane and Aguero.

Dragging Phil out to the wing is not his game. England have suffered this for years.

Get him in the 8/10 and he will get you goals and assists galore.
