Certain posters only come back when there is something to gloat about when they think the Ukraine is about to collapse. I would question their motives and morality.
Nobody wants a thread to be an echo chamber, certainly not me (apart from the rag one!) and I’d say when views on a thread tend to lean a certain way there can often be a tendency towards a pile on when someone expresses a contrary view, but despite several prompts over the course of the last couple of years I am yet to receive a single cogent or worthwhile response to the very broadly framed question as to what a Russian ‘victory’ will look like.
Not one.
All this suggests there’s an assumption that the Ukrainian people will be meekly subjugated, sanctions will be lifted, Russia will have their money returned, will be readmitted to the G8, McDonald’s will reopen in Red Square and Russia will be readmitted to international sporting events with open arms.
In the absence of any adequate or meaningful response to this question this is the only conclusion I feel I can logically and sensibly draw, other than the simple fact that it hasn’t been given any thought, which means that views are manifestly inchoate on the subject.
@Damocles had a go a couple of weeks ago, I suppose, but he didn’t really address the point sufficiently to do it any justice.
It’s a debate I’m more than happy to have, as we all need our views on any subject robustly challenged, but I’m yet to benefit from such an exchange despite numerous prompts from this quarter.
I’m genuinely all ears.
