Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Could he take Kovacic squad place next season
Kovacic hasn't played and even if fit doubt he'd have played that much.Assuming Bernardo and Kovacic leave for the 3 midfield places Rodri, Gonzalez, Reijnders, Foden, Cherki and maybe one of Wharton or Anderson. I'm only guessing we have summer targets, but if we do we don't need a 7th player, plus it seems Pep is showing a bit of trust in Nunes playing some minutes in there.

Ben Jacobs is reliable because of his connections to Hughes and said Liverpool aren't intrested in Semenyo, so I have no idea why people are freaking out. Bournemouth are using Liverpool name to push us to pay more when we activate his RC.

Really? I think our club are pretty switched on in relation to these schoolboy style tactics.

Then what after the summer if we really want an Anderson or Wharton. Can't see us filling the squad with a stop gap.
I wouldn’t class him as a stop gap when only 28, come the summer Bernie will be gone, and potentially can see an exit for Kova. Plus we’ve no idea on what might happen with Rodders and a new deal.

In my eyes, Paqueta could be the Bernie replacement more than anything, an older experienced pro who won’t expect to play every minute, plus can play multiple positions.

The West Ham fan on a recent Bluemoon podcast doesn’t rate Paqueta. Not the same player since the betting investigation. Think that ship has sailed.

I guess he’d know better than us. I’m not sure how much playing time he’d get with us but I do think West Ham would be open to shifting him on. But as you say that betting slip has probably sailed.

Can’t imagine we’ll be buying another older central midfielder. Cherki will need minutes in the centre if Semenyo plays on the right and Bernardo doesn’t miss many games.
Can’t personally see Pep playing Cherki and Phil together in the middle, maybe at home when a team has parked the bus, but that doesn’t happen as often as it used to now anyway.

Rodri would change things , but the club won't be thinking about that this window. As I posted Rodri Gonzalez, Reijnders, Foden Cherki. plus one summer signing is enough. If Rodri doesn't recover or wants to leave then it changes and we deal with that if it happens.

That cannot be increased by Bournemouth.

I don’t see Cherki as being included in the midfield options as much, there would only imo ever be one of Phil or Cherki starting, unless one was wide. Bearing in mind we’ve got a good run at all competitions between now and summer then having an extra midfielder wouldn’t be such a bad thing if the price was right when there are so many questions marks against Rodders and Kova fitness.

Kind of agree, which means there’s only really one spot for our wingers in this current set up, and even that means either Reijnders or Cherki don’t play.

Obviously there’s rotation needed, especially in January, so it’ll be interesting to see how they are knitted together.

I think they are players they have scouted, not another clubs droppings.
If a club starts to sign unwanted , unscouted players they are headed one way.
It doesn't happen, media talks about swap deals, they don't happen either.

Ake wouldn't take a pay cut, and Bournmouth wouldn't pay his wages as they are at City.
But let's wait and see If it occurs.

I have heard City want 21 million.
Ake needs game time for the WC, this could be one of the few moves where a pay cut could be plausible.
