Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

I completely agree, I reckon Anderson is way more of a priority than another forward right now. We're literally down to the bare bones in the middle; other than Gonzalez, we haven't got a single fit body for the 6 or 8 roles.
But I also get why the club looking at attackers. Aside from Haaland, the rest of our front line has been poor in front of goal this season. (And don't get me wrong, I’m not saying Doku is a bad player, but he’s more of a creator/provider than a finisher)

I'm with ya, Haaland needs help. I'm just not sure Semenyo gives them that.

Id put a sneaky bid in for Watkins, although with Villa doing well i doubt they'd sell him. He'd be a good back up/option for Haaland and is 30 tomorrow so got at least two years in him.

Lewis ain't seeing the pitch any time soon. Kovacic is out 'til at least February. Foden and Cerki are attackers.

Silva is gonna be on dead legs mid-January at this rate. We need 1 or 2 more CMs not another winger to ride the bench
He can play across all the front positions
He will rotate with Haaland Doku Cherki and Foden
3 for 4 positions simple really gives rest and freshness in attacking areas

Well he threw Reijnders and Cherki straight in. At £65m you aren't buying potential. You are buying the finished article and City will expect good numbers this season from Semenyo.
Reijnders was bit part and would still be bit part if doku was fit. Can someone tell who they think pep will take out of the current 11 with doku in it for rejniders to accommodate him??

I think we'll have a front 4 of a combo from...

Haaland (no other like him)
Doku or Marmoush
Foden or Reijnders
Cherki (no other like him)
Savinho or Semenyo

I think the middle has a 2 from...(could do with 1 more perhaps)
Nico (no rest for the poor guy)
Rodri (if he gets fit we are sorted)
Bernardo
Lewis

Doku was already playing more centrally before his injury sidelined him. Are you starting Semenyo over Foden or Cherki? Absolutely not. I just don't see where/when he gets minutes. Savinho and Bobb only play when there's a shift in tactics or the game is in hand already. Pep's attacking tactics have clearly shifted.
Americans have never heard of “substitutes”?

What happens is, you bring them on and you see if they can change the game.

We also have a concept known as a “squad”. Google will assist.

FFS.

What does Pep see in him?

Something you don't :)

On a serious note, Savinho at 19 was better than Marmoush at 24 (see the latter's stats before 24/25).

For the record, I like Marmoush. But the manager seems to rate Savio's potential higher. "I adore Savio" (Pep after Forest).

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. He's a sub, at best in this squad. £65million for a bench player who isn't a great fit for the way they're currently playing. Seems like a waste. Seems like money that could be better spent to bolster their midfield and their backline.

Look at our recent attacking substitutes on the bench.

Marmoush. And kids.

If Haaland gets injured or goes through a snide patch, then what?

If we can add Semenyo to the squad it’s an absolute no brainer.

Remember the days when we had Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli?

I get what you're saying. Just doesn't make sense to me spend £65million for someone that's only gonna play once a week for about 15 minutes

That's wrong, though. It's easy to see why Semenyo is likely to start at least once a week. Do the maths. Hint: the regular starters in attack can't play every 3-4 days till the end of the season. They'll be rotated.

But he's obviously not going to. He'll get plenty of game time. People seem to forget that he's the third top scorer in the league this season, having scored more than all of our players other than Haaland. He gives you tactical flexibility in the same way that Savinho does, but with more threat going forward. In some games, you might have Reijnders, Foden and Cherki as your main attacking threats. In others, perhaps two of Foden, Reijnders and Cherki play a bit deeper, and Doku and Semenyo play as traditional wingers. Perhaps against tougher opponents in Europe, you'll value Semenyo's more physical game and defensive ability over Cherki's attacking flair.

His last big contract perhaps. He would take a 50 % wage cut at least to join Cherries.
If City want Semenyo ,they have 10 days to tie up a deal.
Adding Ake to the negotiations wouldn't quicken it up.
I add you to the list of Ake to Bournmouth.
A Meaingless list

Ake doesnt have a release clause that ends on the 10th so not intrinsacally conected to Semenyo deal & I thought that the Netherlands manager has told Ake that he needs game time to make the world cup, his last, so the idea of one last big contract is probably not his biggest motivation

BREAKING: The anticipation at Bournemouth is now that Antoine Semenyo's move to #ManCity will be sealed in the next 48 hours after positive talks regarding payments terms today. The player's terms have already been verbally agreed.
