10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

View attachment 178588

Being up there with the highest-rated players this season, considering his minutes played, is actually mental.
I'd go as far as to say that if it weren’t for that injury and being out for two months, Cherki would’ve been City’s player of the season, hands down.
On top of that, being the new lad, he hasn't got that 'free role' luxury like Foden does. He’s stuck out on the right and doesn't get enough space to drift centrally(bar few moments). I’ve got a feeling if he played as an 8, his assist numbers would be through the roof, but we’ll probably have to wait for Rodri to be back to see that.

He’s a proper number 10. He brings that spark and constant creativity we’ve been craving (unlike some other number 10s we've had in recent seasons).
The way he’s started actually reminds me so much of KDB back in 2015 when he first joined
I think he actually needed that injury break, to be honest. Maybe he wasn't even really injured, just used the time to train a bit differently. You can see he's lost weight and everything. I bet they were watching loads of video analysis too. I'm sure he wasn't just sitting at home - he was preparing himself properly.

Just another football freestyler, who is physically nor mentally suitable to play a team game and follow instructions. Glimpses of brilliance, but the reality is oodles of costly mediocrity. He's not alone, the squad is full of them. We're fecked!

Incredible post.

Cherki wasn’t ruthless enough in the first half and was careless with possession.

Then he sorted himself out second half and was more ruthless with what he did and won the game for us.
Yep but I think that was more to do with Forest working so hard to press and close down space - we weathered the storm and found a way to win a game that we would have lost last season. Rayan still gives you an out ball which was needed as Erling in particular, had a very ordinary first half.

Cherki in all competitions (Lyon and City)

aged 18: 6 GA
aged 19: 11 GA
aged 20: 12 GA
aged 21: 33 GA
aged 22 (City): 12 GA so far.

Last season, he took a really big step forward.

If Cherki avoids injuries, he can get 30+ GA again (maybe even 40).

Thats what we need. A hard fought game but a player who Steps up and get us the win. Wasnt a good Game of him Overall but KDB had the „gamechanger“ in him and I wait if he can do that constantly

Fucking brilliant.
Looks like another nutcase has escaped

If he stays fit, just for City I think 30 GA is his low bar across what, around 50+ games he would be involved in?

I'm betting he will be consistently over 35 GA and most seasons being over 40.

I've said it before on here and I'll say it again. He reminds me of Ali B in the way he plays, only much younger of course. This guy has it all in front of him IMHO, so let's all hope he fulfills his obvious potential. I think we could have a real star on our hands.

The biggest compliment I can give is that his close control resembles the player who I think was our best ever at that skill, David Silva.

As we all know Silva was a magician in tight spaces. He could create a chance out of nothing.

Cherki is showing a similar level of creativity, and he has the added bonus of being able to do it with both feet.

David deservedly sits at the City table of royalty with King Colin and Kev.

Cherki is just beginning his career. It feels like we are witnessing the early stages of another marvellous City player.

We are so lucky to bear witness each week to this fantastic player!

He's a different player to Spanish Dave he's more like a hybrid of Ali B and Kinky.
