Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Thing is them not getting another yellow for that can understand what pisses me off more is when the Dias second yellow wasn’t giving that get a manager moaning then the club complaining then every other clubs fans are on social shouting corrupt Man City get away with another one! That Arsenal one will not be mentioned much apart from Man City fans..

In previous seasons it was clear City had a better team than Arsenal. The argument lies as to whether that still applies this season. No point debating that on a City forum of course but I think folk will agree there ain't much in it.
You have a much better defence and Trossard is amazing tbf.. id say you edge it, but aside from tonight we are a better team to watch...

BTW over my dead body would I visit that ADHD cesspit. I keep getting asked why I'm on a City forum and not on an Arsenal site. The answer is I love football 1st, Arsenal 2nd but also just visit Arsenal-mania and you'll see why it's not a place to stay for the sake of your sanity. Same applies to the Arsenal subreddits. Full of nutcases.

Most City fans on here are of an age where they've been fans when you've been shit, and been fans when you've been the best PL team there's ever been. Contrast that with Gooners who lived through Henry and the Invincibles, but then took that sense of entitlement into the modern era, and who are now scarred with PTSD from City pipping them to the title. Not a good place to dwell.
One thing i would say about City fans in general. is that we typically have match going fans on forums, makes a big difference, bit of perspective. Also we have a really aging fan base, i think us and Everton have the oldest av and longest running season ticket purchasers - loads of blues 50 years plus match goers - thats some commitment to the game. There are a good few at Arsenal too, but because your reach stretches outside match going distances a lot on social media and platforms are ermmm different! Not all angels from our side of course , but in the main its rational football thought first....well it is with my pals

I don't quite get you Jim, why would I deny it? It's a stat I used to back up what I was seeing over the last few games. I agree with you that the scoreboard and the points are what matters, my point is that our finishing was poor, and it's probably indicative of the fact we probably still lack elite finishers given Gyokeres has been a flop.
I think if Trossard and Saka play wider and isolate their FB's for crosses...Gyokeres will score a hatful ...he's not a player to play on the half turn

Not watched the Villa game however safe to assume they wouldn’t roll over and let themselves be savaged by us though. Losers.

They were excellent second half. Thankfully, they don‘t play like that all the time. Chances are the handbrake will be on again in the next game, and it will be back to the same sterile shit they‘ve served up for much of the season, playing not to lose and relying on set pieces.

Can't knock that result. Think they've needed that tonight as well after a few iffy results and and performances of late. Bit of a statement from them tonight so fair dos to em.

Over to us to keep pace with them now at Sunderland.

They were doing a job first half and arsenal were shitting themselves, then Martinez handed them a soft goal off a corner and the pressure was off. After that we had to sit and watch them roll over whilst we heard the commentators (and talksport now) go on about how this is, and I quote "a statement" victory

Keep the pressure on. Nothing to worry about not even close. We'll twat sunderland then they will shit their kecks until they get lucky again. We need to make sure this happens every week until the end of the season. They will bottle it long before then if we do. The fact they're getting so excited about this, only half way through the season, gives the game away a bit

On the bright side the 115 and "peps about to leave" stories might go quiet for a day or 2 whilst we hear about arsenals "statement victory" for the foreseeable. Nothing to see here we go about doing our business as we always do come the business end of the season

The question is how they're gonna do when they can see the finish line. Not too worried about impressive wins now as long as we do our job and stay in touching distance.

They've already proven they can be excellent front runners in two of the previous three seasons, which never resulted in anything for them.

Gabriel's foul to Martínez, Merino not getting second yellow card, Saka's offside... yeah, it's 4-1 but seem some help there...

You're lying if you say they're not a good team, but so are we. May the best team win.

That said, I have no idea how Merino wasn't sent off, and Saka didn't get AT LEAST one card.

Strange how they haven't managed to win the title, given that they have been the best team in that period.

Its a good stat mind you...2 / 2 / 2 is some achievement tbf.... I remember well our 77/78 when we were pipped by a pt by Liverpool, I loved our team's effort then...really good side we had. Great second half by Arsenal ...we need to do that to Villa at ours!
