I agree. It was better than previous games, but that’s not saying much.Shit for a big game, but better than Leeds and Sunderland games.
You’re not in the minority.I'm probably in a minority, but I find the new stadium extension a bit depressing, an inevitable further dilution of the core passionate supporters. (Nothing got to do with local versus outsiders, but solely based on passion).
He'll soon be in the minority in the ground itself as we all willYou’re not in the minority.
Who leaves when a tense game is in the balance at 1-0 though? Bizarre behaviour.SS3 was pretty quiet for this one. Some brave souls at the back tried their very best, but it got little traction.
I can understand people not singing or chanting, each to their own, but not shouting or reacting to the action on the pitch....that's a different story. Contrast Sunderland on Thursday who screamed for every decision, applauded clearances and throw-ins, cheering the team to the end.
Compare to today at ours, almost nothing from the vast majority. (I know, I know, Sunderland just promoted after decades of gloom, and it was toxic there for years, so passion is expected, but the difference is very noticeable).
The early leaving has been done to death, I've always taken the view that you buy your ticket, so arrive when you want, and leave when you want, but don't pretend it doesn't matter. Thousands exiting en masse at 85 minutes and before, when there was always going to be at least 6 more added minutes, and we were clinging on. Why bother coming? It isn't a best supporter competition, but yes, by staying to try and cheer them over the line, I am providing better support than those guys. By cheering all the small things I am giving more support.
I know the usuals will get angry and defensive, how dare the fans be criticised. But honestly, there were hundreds of empties in the second tier, rows and rows in 93:20 and in the halfway line blocks on the middle tier. I get it that the tickets are sold, so what the the club do if they're not exchange relisted. But that's a huge game in the context of our season, and the supporter interest was lukewarm at best.

I'm probably just frustrated that we've been on the move since 6am this morning, our flight home is delayed again by hours, and we're all tired and disappointed with the result, but I genuinely wish we had a 48,000 seater stadium, where tickets were like gold dust, the fans who came actually wanted to be there, were mostly interested in shouting for the team, and stayed to the end. It feels very different, and is going to get worse.

As soon as the board went up for 6 added minutes about 300 people around me got up and left while Chelsea were on the attack.
Maybe they should lock us in..Who leaves when a tense game is in the balance at 1-0 though? Bizarre behaviour.

I was thinking when I was watching people start to file out on 88 minutes, no-one in their right mind would switch the channel over or turn the TV off at that point if they were watching at home. Yet they’ve paid to be there and they still go home with the match in the balance. Maddening and piss poor support, but nothing will ever stop them.Who leaves when a tense game is in the balance at 1-0 though? Bizarre behaviour.

Agreed, its best to just augh along with the emptihad jokes, its part of a DNA as a home fan base. You can complain all you want.
Times have changed.
We could go through numerous excuses why people continue to leave early, but it’s been done to death.
It’s just the way it is now.
Nothing will change.
Just accept it.
I think the change to the away section set up over the last decade has meant away fans make nowhere near as much noise as they used to when they had more fans in fewer tiers before the SS expansion. There are fewer fans singing as one as they’re all split up over three tiers. One thing that has become apparent over the last 2 -3 years is the downgrade in noise from away fans, another symptom of ticket selling polices??
Forgot about those til you mentioned it…I thought the new 1894 flags and banners looked class. Really creative and showing our fanbases identity.
