Stones has been fantastic but it's over if he is out for months.
IIRC, Stones hasn't missed a game for England in the last 3 big tournaments (Euro and WC).
Not sure that will remain true, though. Seems that he has declined physically and is afraid of physical challenges.

I think that was a previous injury, and he'd recovered from that, I seem to remember him getting some sort of muscle injury the last time we saw him. He'd a good run in between (for John anyway).

I’m going to say this now but in the morning I will deny I said it!! ;-)
I am heartsick to have to agree that it could be the last we see of John Boy. He has been a great player for us and I cannot agree that he only wants to play for England.
However I would never agree with some of the horrible things that have been said about him.
No player enjoys being injured and they definitely don’t go out of their way to get injured. Sorry.
Thank you John Boy you’ve been a star which in this club is a great achievement. :-)
Now I’m off to bed to cry myself to sleep! (Just kidding). :-) :-)

He has been great for us but last 2 seasons with the injury he has had been a waste of space and seems now all he is thinking about is make sure he is fit for the World Cup! There is not a chance he will want to play any game with any slight knock like a few of our players have been doing

I reckon Pep has given up tbh, if one day Stones just turns up at training then great stuff but otherwise, continue as if he doesn’t exist.
He will be back as soon as he is out again. Fit for the World Cup then find himself a new team
I'd say he probably retires

I think you’re right Eccles remember him in his prime . Sadly I don’t think we will see it again .
I'm not on top of our squad list, but if we're making January signings and a home grown player needs to be left off the league or UCL squad list then I think we've seen the last of Stones unfortunately. Been great for us but too many years of inconsistent fitness.

That's worse than I thought...oh dear.
One can see why. Winning the WC with England would complete a great career.
But whether that's the right attitude towards the club that has developed him and made him one of the best paid defenders in the world is another question.

It’s amazing how people are making assumptions about what John Stones wants.
He hasn’t got the opportunity to defend himself and no one except himself knows exactly what he might or might not want or be doing.

Yeah he is being selfish while he has been exceptional for us one of the main players who contributed to our trophies you can understand he wants to go to the World Cup fully fit while staying at the best place to stays fit..
