Injuries 2025/26 | Gvardiol tibia fracture (p59) Dias 4-6 weeks (p70)

There’s not much you can do when 3 players in the same position get long term injuries at the same time.

We’ve got 5 CBs for 2 positions. That’s usually enough.

We’ve got 3 CDMs, and we’ve not had 2 available at the same time very much either.

Lack of rotation is a problem that we’re suffering for, but when we have rotated, we’ve been rubbish. That’s partly recruitment, but partly a new, young team learning to play together.
We have Ake and Kushanov in an emergency we could probably play Rodri and n
NOR there
Just need to get through until Dias becomes fit
If we can get a replacement in ( Guehi ) for Ake or Stones or Ake that would help

But we saw ‘rotation’ against Leverkusen… our fringe players are not up to the required levels, certainly not en masse
Problem was Pep went full rotate and un-match fit players either as a group or individually weren't upto it, rather than doing 2/3 and then 2/3 each game afterwards but, from that performance he's thrown them all under a bus unless we're desperate.

There's no way our first 11 could carry the team every 3 or 4 days. Sometimes his stubbornness is his undoing .

5 CBS I get. Stones, Ake, Dias, Khusanov, Gvardiol. But to be fair we knew before the season started that 2 of them were sick notes. Throw in Pep being cautious with Khusa it meant obviously the two who are now injured have been overplayed.
3 cdms. Rodri, Nico G and who?
Kovacic. Absolutely fine in a double 6 role.

4-6 weeks is about 10 games though. I can’t see those players being fit for all of them.

Not sure NOR would be tried as a CB unless no other option.

Alleyne is the unknown. Hopefully he settles in really smoothly.

That was one game though. I’m not talking about rotating the entire team either. For instance maybe Dias doesn’t need to start every game.

If the squad players aren’t good enough then we’ve wasted a huge amount of money. Surely players like Khusanov or Lewis could start a few more games here and there

But even Pep said today that Stones hardly featured last season so it’s not bad luck with him this year. In a World Cup year when both would be eager to get game time both Stones and Ake should have been persuaded to go out on loan in August when they were fit, and an elite replacement brought in.

Dias and Guardial have been flogged playing every game because there are no options without affecting performance. Stones is finished, Ake looks like he is running in treacle whenever he gets on the pitch and Khusanov is simply not ready to start PL games and not trusted by Pep.

Alleyn, recalled from loan, is very promising and Khusanov can play CB, so we should be ok, even if not ideal.
The idea that Khusanov is not trusted is not really evidenced. Before his injury he was given plenty of minutes but then Nunes stepped in at right back.

Stones has been in the squad for 19 out of 30 games this season. He’s not trusted anymore even when he’s fit.

Akanji played 40 games for us last season.

Stones/Ake 29 games combined last season.

Akanji wasn't at his best but at least he could get on the pitch!!

Ok you have provided figures whereas I wasn't able to .

For what ever reason, the club let Akanji go, and he's no longer here.

So whether he was fit enough to play or not, is academic because he isn't here.

If you are saying that the manager or club made the wrong decision, that's fine.

But he isn't here now so irrelevent to the current situation , but you are clearly very knowledgeable.

4-6 weeks with Pep usually means 8-12 weeks. It could be April before we see Ruben back ffs.

What a fucking mess, what fucking luck eh? Still in all 4 comps and lose 3 of our starting CBs.

Honestly I love Stones but can't wait to see the liability gone and replaced with somebody who's available.

Guehi or somebody has to come in we simply can't rely on Khusanov and another injury prone Ake as well as some kid from the youth.

Luckily we have a decent gap to 5th place because we could go on a seriously bad run with the fixtures we have coming up.

In City & Pep we trust.

Going to be interesting at the back for the next few weeks that's for sure. Let's hope our forwards can rattle off 3 or 4 goals a game just in case.

Our build-up from the back was poor with Donnarumma, Dias, and Gvardiol... I dread watching it with Khusanov and Ake in their place.
