We had two tickets in the East stand level 2 for years, before that we were in level 3 (ES).
We were there when Sergio scored his goal and stayed the following season.... after that the prices escalated massively and along with the cost of travelling up from South Wales (normally involving and overnight) it became unrealistic to hold on to them. We thought we would get tickets on an ad-hoc basis but even that has become unrealistic and very difficult so now we don't bother.... which is very sad, very sad indeed.
I have a pretty good record of watching City from March 1971 (my first home game). This was a time when City were a family friendly club. Sadly, times and City have changed and now not only are prices extortionate but the process of getting tickets have made it far too difficult to even attempt to try. I would love (and have through third party sellers) to attend the odd game on a whim so to speak but the club have admittedly through external pressures and market forces quite literally put a stop to all that. Like I say very sad.... but still a blue through a nd through.
My proudest moment was getting invited into the marble arches at Highbury by Joe Mercer and meeting the team in 1971 (got a full autograph book).... the best bit was when Bertie Mee came up and asked who I was and would I like to come into the Arsenal Dressing room and meet the players.... at 10 year old I turned round and said "no thank you, I'm here to see Manchester city"
There really are memories I will treasure until my last breath, but sadly City (like every other football club) are no longer that club.
In defence of them what City are doing in the community and developing East Manchester is pioneering and absolutely fantastic for the community.
Back on topic, I would have loved to have been able to pitch up and buy a ticket yesterday or V Brighton but I'm afraid it's just too much hassel these days.
