What will be will be, once people leave, but that's a next season discussion.

Maybe I didn't explain it very well but my question remains unanswered - can we register up to 5 players in the CL squad given we have the required vacancies or is it just 3 new players only?

Except it literally does, because clubs can wait 5.5 months and sign him for free. In fact he could sign a pre contract for nothing abroad now. Which then lessens what palace can ask and expect for him at this point. Alexis Sanchez was a 60m player. We had agreed a fee of 65m in the summer...

it was reading those that made me think we can sign 5 new players in the CL post league phase if we get two off the club books altogether i.e. Phillips or Bobb or Ake or Ortega etc.

Article 32 Subsequent registration​

32.01
After the completion of the league phase and before the start of the knockout phase, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registrations must be completed by 5 February 2026 (24:00 CET) at the latest.

32.02
Exceptionally and without prejudice to Paragraph 32.01, clubs participating in domestic championships that start and end in the same calendar year are entitled to additional player registrations in the following cases:

1. If more than five players on the club's List A are no longer registered with their national association as playing for the club concerned after completion of the league phase and before the start of the knockout phase, the club may register one additional player, i.e. a total of four new eligible players, for the remaining matches in the current competition.
2. If more than seven players on the club's List A are no longer registered with their national association as playing for the club concerned after completion of the league phase and before the start of the knockout phase, the club may register two additional players, i.e. a total of five new eligible players, for the remaining matches in the current competition.

Such exceptional registrations must be completed by 5 February 2026 (24:00 CET) at the latest.
