I’m sure Liverpool replaced Leoni with Chiesa this season.
Found it - rule change from September 2025:
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c5yeg2xlnxvo

The regulation, approved for the 2025/26 season, permits a temporary replacement of a maximum of one outfield player with a long-term injury or illness up to and including the 6th round of the tournament’s main phase.

-> not before February in case of us now

EDIT: actually not before next season til round 6 ;)

Not as keen on this because of the homophobia. Really hope that was just a stupid misunderstanding of messaging with his LGBTQ armband. . . but that shite has no place at Manchester City in my opinion.
Thank you for bringing this up. I know a lot of people see this as a political issue, but it shouldn’t be.

I think it’s totally reasonable to support a team and a player but also to call these things out and wish for better. Yes, I want to City to win, but I also want City to have a team of good humans (I generally think they do!)

I've just spent an hour on rawk - wallowing in the fuming

Mixture of City hate - hate for Richard Hughes - increasing hate for the player, including posts to say he's not that good anyway

A growing narrative of - we are lucky - if he chooses City now rather than us i(a proper club) n 5 months - then he is not the sort of person we want

I fucking love their entitled shite
Who the fuck is Richard Hughes when he's at home? Edit: Just checked

Personally, I think it's pretty simple for even the most rabid Liverpool fan to work out. Guehi probably said he was still interested in joining them when the transfer fell through last summer but in the meantime he's changed his mind just as anyone is entitled to. I also think Liverpool's form this season has played a significant part in that decision - he, along with many others, possibly felt they'd be running away with the league given all the big money signings they made but as that hasn't happened he's then had second thoughts, and when Pep and City come knocking a player would be a fool not to listen to what they have to say

Lots of 300k a week posts on other forums, i know we got him cheap but we wouldn't pay a centre half 300k a week, would we ?

We're getting a £70/80 million pound defender for 20 million. I imagine he's on a fucking nice wedge as he could have very easily sat on his arse for 6 months and got a monsterous signing on fee off somebody AND a nice fat wage.

25 year old, England centre half. He's going to command top dollar!

We've basically done what Madrid, Bayern and Barca have done for years! World class players for very little money. We're at the top table now. Players come here with a near guarantee of a title challenge and deep CL run.

Good business when you factor in he's premier league ready (we're really fragile with Dias/Gvardiol absences, he's the captain of Palace, recently looked at ease for England, England quota in our squad replenished if the inevitible departure of Stones and Trafford happens in the summer, good injury record for a 25 year old and his peak years are ahead of him.

talkSPORT understands City will pay £20m plus add-ons, bringing the deal close to £30m, while Guehi will sign a five-and-a-half year deal worth £300,000-a-week
