Good business when you factor in he's premier league ready (we're really fragile with Dias/Gvardiol absences, he's the captain of Palace, recently looked at ease for England, England quota in our squad replenished if the inevitible departure of Stones and Trafford happens in the summer, good injury record for a 25 year old and his peak years are ahead of him.

Not only have we got ourselves an experience premier league defender, with his best years ahead of him; weve also just put what must be a huge pin in the summer transfer plans of Liverpool

I honestly believed he'd replace Konate, and then replace Van Dijk as captain once he moves on, and i reckon him coming to us will frustrate them in more than the obvious way

I said that if he comes in January then its a really good sign in the belief of his own quality and that he believes he can compete with Dias and Gvardiol to play regularly

My personal view is that a back 4 of Nunes, Dias, Guehi and Gvardiol would be insane, but that does involve moving Gvardiol back to left back

Great signing either way, and good to get another leader in the squad

I imagine Ake and Stones will be gone in the summer. Still think Livramento will be a target also.

Dias, Josko, Guehi, Khusa, Alleyne, Nico, Nunes, Ait Nouri; that's an exceptional mix of youth and experience to rotate through the backline.

Agree with your first paragraph……in Khusanov and Alleyne, we’ve found two fantastic players we might not have seen play together but for current circumstances….hopefully pep will work them both in to a regular rotation …since max can play with both feet he can be either LCB or RCB..

Dias will be back in a few weeks (when does Love Island finish...) and Alleyne has done better than any of us would have expected.
Once Dias is back, the back two will be him and Guehi. Ake has been told he needs to play and we'd still have Khusanov and Alleyne (plus the ghost of Stones). I suspect he'll push for a move, so unless we block it, I think he'll be gone this month, whether on loan or a permanent deal
