Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

We give plenty of credit when our end is loud and proud so we have to hold our hands up when it’s poor like today. Our end was like the Etihad at the final whistle.

Quite a few Blues focus would have moved on to getting ready for Bodo I reckon.

We are now a fan base that expects the players to give us something to chear for before we make any noise rather than inspiring them to want to play for us, as evidenced by the constant excuse of "sideways football" being a contributor to our ever worsening atmosphere.
To me, it just feels like excuse after excuse. We don’t sing because the style of football, what time the game is, when we are winning, when we are losing, who we are playing against, Var, the line up…

When do we sing and just get behind the team. We were 7-0 against Exeter and you could hear a pin drop last week.

Something is off with our support. I didn’t attend today and not trying to criticise those that did, but in general our home and away support at times seems off.

The away end seemed full of half and half/ viagogo fans. Compare that to the Newcastle game. Why is our away support at Newcastle better than a derby game?

I think the club have killed our away ends at places like United, Liverpool and Arsenal. I wasn’t there today, but it looked like a lot of half and half wearers and people at their first game.

Newcastle in the cup seemed and sounded so much better, at 0-0 as well
Quite good at times today in spite of the fucking awful performance. But we never looked interested and relied on Donna and VAR to keep the score down. I left when the third went in (didn't know it was disallowed until I checked my phone) and I wasn't the only Blue beating the traffic.

Agreed.

I think it's in part why a change of coach might be good for the fanbase as well as everyone involved at the club because we start a fresh and everyone has to back the new guy.

We have been so spoiled under Pep, we have kind of put ourselves into a situation where we sort of expect him to do the business during the season and we will do the cheering and partying at the end of the season.

It's become too sterile and stale.

Wasn't bad at all today, especially for an early kick off. We were certainly a lot better than their fans until they scored.

I know a lot of people like to call our younger support spoilt. But when that 2nd goal went in it was all the older blokes who were flooding out, the younger lads stayed till the end. Just an observation.

Perhaps because we were getting pissed on from minute one?

You answered this yourself mate:

Considering that without Donnarumma it could have been a lot worse, and that the dreaded VAR actually worked in our favour on three extremely close calls.

Considering that United also hit the woodwork twice, and that we hardly created a single chance.

Considering all that, I didn't think our support was that bad, albeit I'm not exactly sure as to how we can "get behind the lads" when they're obviously being outmuscled and outplayed

Also, why stay till the end, when we're often kept behind for an hour (as it happened we weren't)?

I stayed, but only because my coach was 300 yards away, and it wouldn't have made any difference

I didn't actually see any tourists or half and half scarves but if people want to blame them, then who am I to argue?
I just want to get to Tuesday and our next game.

If our end was full of half and half twats then the club have got what they wanted

The poster who you responded to, admitted in another post that he didn't attend the game.

I did, and didn't see a single half and half scarf

I'm not saying there weren't any, but then again, under the circumstances I didn't think that our support was particularly bad today

There's only so many time that you can sing "It's only 6-1" before you start worrying that we might end up suffering something far worse

I think both clubs prioritize tourists during the derby, too profitable to miss out on.

Really poor show from all those that bailed before the final whistle. We've all experienced far, far more humiliating defeats than that. Just fucking stay a
For the extra few minutes and don't turn our away end into a rags away end tribute.

Striking to see how many away end tickets go to the ticket tout sites. This was supposedly with 5 mins to go^ and most of that cluster of the away end are queuing up to get out.

Sad times with ticketing at our club.

FWIW, I didn’t think it was that bad, in the respect we made more noise than they do at our place. It also didn’t seem full of half and half / tourists to me. Agree with the point though that Blues could easily have held on for a few minutes to avoid being hypocritical about something we’ve taken the piss out of them about over the last few years. I suppose it’s back to the old “people will do what what they want, regardless of how it looks” line. We won’t be pulling out the picture of their away end, when they go on about empty seats again.
