45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Not sure if he should have cut that ball out for the second goal, seemed to be ball watching. Id have to see it again, and I have no intentions of watching any of that back any time soon so if im wrong so be it

Was a bit half asleep at times as was the rest of the team, but covered well as usual and no rash moments I can remember. One of the better ones today
Like you I have no interest in watching it back but my main memory of that goal, was our RB stood with his finger up his arse.

1:16, I have to ask again, what the FUCK was he doing?!!!!
It was a 3-on-2 situation, a numerical advantage. With good players, that should end in a clear scoring opportunity, and that was the case with the other Rat, whom we may dislike, but he made the perfect pass, right into Mbeumo's path.

Khusanov could have, at best, reduced the danger by moving slightly further to the right, but logically, regardless of the opposing defenders, a counter-attack like that should end with a clear scoring opportunity when the ball is at the feet of any decent player.

Edit: Writing the reply reminded me of our goal against Arsenal and Reijnders' pass to Haaland and Saliba's defending. It's difficult to defend while retreating at high speed when you're outnumbered 2 against 3 or 1 against 2.

Was the least of our issues today, second best player for me, not that it's compliment for the rest of them, at HT we were still in the game (perhaps fortunately), but the rest in the second half were diabolical, and he was the best of them.

Yep. Him and Donnarumma are the only ones that can justify their wages

More clearances than all his teammates put together.
Same amount of interceptions as all his teammates put together.
Joint most tackles
1 of 3 that didn't get dispossessed.

Only so much you can do on your own.

The Mbuemo goal is rock and hard place, mark Mbuemo and you leave Bernardo 2v1 vs Fernandes and Amad so either way they were getting a big chance to score.

Well played, Khus, who has done well since called into the team.
For some time now, the issue has been physicality in midfield.
Rodri is not quick - he relies on his positional sense and Godlike reading of the game.
He cannot deal with three direct runners and neither can Bernardo, brilliant in possession but in no way an athletic presence.
If capable players are allowed to run at defenders, en-masse, it is almost impossible to defend against it.
Defence starts with the press of the front line and continues with the aggression of midfield.
Yesterday, we lacked both, for large parts of the match.

I like him and very much put him in the zabba category.
Will never be top class but would run through brick walls for the badge and thats all you can ask.
He has all the physical attribute including his passing ability to be top defender in the PL if not world class. Only lacking experience which will only improve. He has only played a little over a full season of top flight football which is the same amount Gvardio played last season (55 games for Lens and City).
