United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Wouldn't be surprised if the rags roll over for that one. Can't see them excelling themselves twice with a punishing schedule of 2 games in 8 days.
To be fair Arsenal won’t give them the chances we did in the first half
And if they did they damn well wouldn’t be worse in the second half
They play shit and draw 0-0. We were completely destroyed by an average team

Cherki was shite especially for someone who had publicly stated he wanted to kill Manchester United. He showed absolutely nothing. First goal was down to him with an awful free kick and a pathetic attempt at recovery.
He needs to be much better if he wants to live up to the hype
He's been fantastic so far and you're slating him for one bad 45 minutes? FFS.

Bad day, everybody needs to get over it and move on because many on here are making themselves look really stupid.

Stop Chatting Shit!

Pep is the only City manager to ever beat united in an FA Cup Final by scoring the fastest Cup Final goal in the history of the competition, whilst also being the only City manger to have two different players score hatricks in a Manchester Derby, all in the same season!

You need to give him some respect pal!

Sycophantic claptrap. He's the only City manager to have been in charge when we met the rags in a Cup final. That's through luck of the draw.

As for the two hat-trick scorers, it's interesting to note that neither of them are exactly tipping up trees at the moment.

Like Pep and his tactics, they're looking very stale. Time for Pep to change our style of play or bugger off and let someone else have a go.

I fear Semenyo won't get half the joy playing for us than he did for Bournemouth. He will soon have to revert to how Jack played for us, run at the full back, stop and pass back
It's f*****g crazy, you buy a player because you like what they do then you coach it out of them what's the point.
This turgid walking style is driving me nuts, when I started going in the mid 70s we had the king of all geordies and Peter Barnes and they were incredible.I was so pleased to see we were signing a lightning quick winger who will take players on and either goes past or cut inside and get you out of your seat as after all its an entertainment business. I feel sorry for Erling just imagine how many goals he would score it we played to his strengths, I want to see him collect the ball deeper and just run at defenders and then have a one on one with the goalie now that's entertainment not this turgid s**t.

"Completely destroyed"? It was 2-0, they didn't score until the 65th minute. Doesn't sound like a demolition job to me. I'm guessing the media touted it as such like they do any rags win, "masterclass" and all that bollocks.

They caught us on a bad day, 6th match in 16 days, game over, move on. I'm only bothered now about the Bodo match. You lot can carry on whinging all week, you're not going to change it.

Don't think there's a club in the world that would rate Foden higher than us. If we are ready to sell him, then the fee won't be whopping at all.

We'll be happy to have him around, given we offered a new contract to Rico.

The difficult problem for the club is how to handle the negotiations over Foden's new contract. Will we offer him a better contract if he doesn't improve? How much would Foden want?

He'll stay or go the Rashford way. But I don't see him living and flourishing abroad.
I would tell Foden to go book a holiday for 2 week , oh Haaland too

Possibly just went for experience. We have limited options at the moment, that's why we've recalled Allenye and signed Guehi. Ake is probably past his best and hasn't played much recently, it all adds up.

But lets be honest, did anybody expect that level of performance from the rags? If was supporting them I'd be bloody angry now after what they've served up over the past 18 months.

Yeah - it was a home derby and they were playing a system that better suited the players they have. Despite being a bit comical at times, they have been capable of putting in good games this season - Liverpool away, Arsenal at home etc. We had the players to beat them, and should have, but we didn't get close to matching the effort or intensity they had.

Donna superb, they hit the post and had 3 disallowed They battered us but we were so poor Move on City and back at it

Fucking hell, first time I've heard Barnes called "incredible". But it's a different game now. That team didn't have to break down a 10 man defence.

We won ONE trophy in the 70's, ironically against the team we've just put 3 past to be on the verge of another final in the same comp which would bring us our 19th trophy under Pep.

I do think we should be punting the ball in more or having a go at defenders more, both were booked early yesterday so I would have liked to see Doku and Semenyo running at them. Sooner or later one of them would have got hooked and it would have changed the game.

They had the ball in our net 5 times & if isn’t was for Gigi and the woodwork it would would have been more. They were better than us in every part of the pitch. Probably their strongest 11 whilst we had 9 players absent. They set up to beat is with a low block & fast transition & they had the pace to do it well.
What pissed me off was we did not match their desire, for me that’s on the players

Yes, despite what we like to think they have a better side than most give them credit for, lets be honest they're above Chelsea and only one behind Liverpool. But they also haven't had a tough away match in midweek, 6 matches in 16 days, a host of injuries, not being able to get a settled team and not a huge amount of time to even prepare for the next game, all of which isn't an issue for them so it's not all just about one thing.

If people can't understand why they're better prepared and ready for that one match they should stop commenting. You can't keep patching things up and come out on top in every match with a weakened squad and a heavy schedule, if we didn't learn that much last season there's no point.

I know it hurts when it's them but it's one match. their cup final. We go off to play in the CL while the rags put their feet up. Who knows, if they put as much in against Arsenal, who "we'll never catch" but are obviously faltering themselves, they just might get something.

That's one thing that pisses me off..the lack of quality in our corners
Go to Hough End or other places and you will see hung over players can take better bloody corners
Never seen such bad corners tbh. With a player the height of Haaland or O’Reilly ftm they ought to be swerving balls towards the goal or being glanced off someone near post. These outswingers are useless.

Makes me laugh that whoever our taker is they put up both hands before they take them - and the ball ends up in different areas every single time.

Embarrassing that an elite team does not have a player that can take a decent corner.

It's their cup final because apart from a top 6 place they have nothing else to play for. We've already played something like 8 matches more than they have this season, we're second in the league, as near as damn it in the Carabou final, put 10 past Exeter in the FAC and still in the Champions League, yet most on here are talking like it's the rags in that position and that we're the ones with nothing to play for.

"Under Pep Guardiola's management, Manchester City has won 16 Premier League matches against Manchester United, with United claiming 5 victories." - Source: Give Me Sport.

There probably isn't another team that have beaten them 16 times in the past decade. That's not a poor record by any stretch of the imagination.

The are 90 teams in the top 4 divisions that would love to be in the position we're in now. We were unbeaten in 9 before yesterday's match and you're talking like we lose every other match. We accept we don't have the quality of players that we had in the best years so why is everybody expecting the same results?
I'd be surprised if that's correct to be honest and I can't be bothered trolling through records to see.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but was yesterday not that day? The players wouldn't run through a paper bag yesterday and looked like they didn't give a bollocks.

Too many occasions over the last 18 months alot of the same players just aren't putting the effort in and the same players aren't putting it in for the manager.
Exactly. Yesterday was not a group of players running through a brick wall for their manager or the fans.

The disturbing thing about yesterday was the rags put in far more of a shift for their manager and fans than ours did. Hard work beats talent every time, when talent doesn't work hard.
