United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Never let them tell you that Liverpool are their main rivals ever again. The levels of giddiness this morning prove exactly who and what we are.
Yeah, but at the same time there main rivals should be Oldham as they’re pretty much the same standard.

It must hurt them so much that the City Liverpool rivalry is now bigger than them V Liverpool and them V us.

They won there cup final now it’s back to drawing with wolves and mid table obscurity, while they wank themselves silly shouting United DNA and dreaming about Jim’s fantasy stadium.

I just don't get how every out field player can have a stinker in a game. You might get five or six in a game and that will be enough to merit a shit performance, but to have basically all ten playing terribly is a recipe for disaster

Agreed, after all the personal reminders on Facebook I chose to congratulate the lad that works in the Co-op in Weaverham. He said that pep should have played Haaland, and where was cherki with his going to kill us performance? Also said that they will win the league maybe next year. Don’t know why I bother.

Never listen to anything their pathetic collection of morons say is a much better idea imo.

A more clueless set of braindeads you will struggle to meet in real life.

Look how fucking giddy the rags are. That annoys me more than the result ffs city
Fuck them. The sun shines on a dogs arse every now and then. Let them get all giddy.

They will probably have a good game against Arsenal. Scruffy Jim will think all is good and keep his hands in his pockets.

Then they will come unstuck against Fulham and Everton and the whole cycle will start again.

That's the real United DNA.

One word: TEAM

I've thought of this a few times over the years on the back of a bad performance. Why does virtually an entire team play so, so bad at the same time? You get those occasional "downing tools" scenarios at clubs with teams, but that obviously doesn't appy here. The common denominator was the training and preparation prior to the game. Maybe something was done sightly different and, coupled with the other factors, Sat lunchtime's shitshow was the consequence. I think we'll all be happy to not see anything remotely like that again regardless.

I think Pep deserves the benefit of the doubt regarding the shit show on Saturday but only just. I think his selection and tactics in a lot of matches could be better. Playing Lewis in that position is a bad decision, indeed after what happened on Saturday I would say that playing him again there in a big match would be suicidal. Likewise, the highline really only works when we have control of the midfield and move the ball quickly and precisely. From the opening minutes it was obvious to all City fans from 10 years up that we were deficient in these areas. With that back four more of an Arsenal early season approach was required. If we played that game again giving them more of the ball and defending deeper, I believe the result would have been different. We have players who can play on the break and we should use them if the situation demands. I think tactical flexibility is an emerging characteristic of the modern game and this is something I think our manager would do well to reflect upon.
The Arsenal display was superb. We defended deeper and flooded midfield. That is precisely what was needed. Let’s hope we play that way at Anfield.

I think it's because the total football that Pep likes to play, relies on every cog in the machine working as it should. When it works well, it's unstoppable, but if a couple of those cogs are out of sync, the whole machine malfunctions. That's why so few coaches are incapable of emulating it and why Arteta's methods are gaining traction.

That's why I disagree that Pep has been "found out". I just think that if he can get the parts in tune, we'll be unbeatable again. Not easy with all the injuries we're suffering and the players we've had to replace over a short time span.

Picking the pieces out of Saturday's performance, the known facts before the match kicked off.
Rico at right back, and Ake at left back my stomach sank, one isn't good enough and the other is past his best.
Rodri is far away from match fitness, Bernardo hasn't got the legs to play as a box to box midfielder. I think reignders should of startedthat's why we bought him, not hiding on the subs bench. The back 4 was a worry to us all, makeshift at best, unfortunate injuries to key defenders at the worst possible time of the season, with the reintroduction of the champions league. Haaland was a massive disappointment again.
We played into the rags hands with the slow build up play and patience, we never released our wingers with some early direct play in behind, we never exploited their weaknesses.
Balls into feet for semenyo and Doku all the time. Get defenders turning for fucks sake. The more inverted wingers we play will be so frustrating for Haaland, he wants to attack space in behind defenders but the early crosses never get delivered. The rags gameplan wasn't complicated, just double up on our sidemen, and keep us playing in front of them to nullify us. So many teams have adopted this against us, however we persist with plan A,no plan B, feltsick for 2 days hate the bastards with a passion. Squad rebuild on the way nicely, get some aggressiveplayers in. HopefullyEnglish. CTID....

Monday, back in work and time to reflect.

We were just wank. Best not have an off day like that again.

Utterly wank.

They're all fucking giddy in work. Luckily it doesn't work on me, but fuck me they're giddy.

Told a few of them to come back when they do it to Arsenal and if they can do it next home game against a team who aren't fielding a suicidal pair of full backs and a vacant midfield.

Just watched the Dalot assault on Doku again and the sky studio and Mike dean reaction.

How the fuck is it not a red?
How can VAR deem it to only be worthy of a yellow.
Then we compare what our players get yellows for.
Rodri got one and he didn’t even touch the player.

There’s surely a conspiracy against us by PiGMOL.
Teams constantly get away with kicking us off the park.

No excuses for our performance. They were bloody awful, but it’s every game where the refs and VAR fuck us.
Another of those inexplicable decisions that's gone against us. Everyone watching says its a red at the time, but the VAR officials think differently.

Dean Henderson in the cup final
Schar on Foden
Dalot on Doku
Guimares offside goal allowed to stand against us.

Oh is it? We win at Madrid and we win at Newcastle where few others do. We had a back 4 of strangers and an injury list which any club would struggle with. You want pep gone you fucking idiot..shall we get frank Clarke back?

The attitude of the team reflects that of the manager. Tired, stale, ineffective, bored. We've been inconsistent for ages, regardless of injuries and absences. The squad and coaching team needs shaking up.

The fact that you mentioned Frank Clark (and even spelled his name wrong) leads me to think that you're the only idiot in this conversation.

Yes, sort of reiterates what I was trying to say, maybe in different words. There seemed a bit more to it on Sat though. It was just the lack of fight, tenacity and desire that was evident that a lot of posters are miffed at. The players need to shoulder some blame because a lot of the basics were missing.

Aké was a complete liability from minute one. He can't run anymore and he put everyone else under massive pressure. Amad waltzed past him at will, he didn't have the legs to support Doku either so he was doubled and tripled up on all game. Playing him cost us the match before it even started.
I think he's been brilliant for us and historically, super reliable. But I am shocked at how slow he's got. It's like watching Didi Hamman play for us. He'd be slow in a game of wheelchair football.

Quality players can get away with lack of pace with positional awareness but there are limits and we saw them on Saturday. He can't play for us any more.
