The Mbuemo goal is rock and hard place, mark Mbuemo and you leave Bernardo 2v1 vs Fernandes and Amad so either way they were getting a big chance to score.

That goal is due to the free kick. Absolutely nothing Khusanov can do there.. the chain of events was already set in motion..
 
he defended poorly on the first goal, has to be said. basically left bruno with an easy decision, wide open runner. sure, maybe if he sticks with mbeumo bruno just sticks it bottom corner, but if you are gonna stay centrally you have to at least make a last ditch tackle on the attacker, he did neither
 
I like him and think he'll be a really good squad member but he still has an awful lot to learn.
He's still young though and will only get better imo

Harsh.

Mbuemo pulls away to receive the ball, but we were still 2 on 3, and the ball could have gone either way, or Fernandes could still have taken the shot himself.

Indeed, Mbuemo put the ball in virtually the only place he could score, but it’s harsh to say Khusanov could have had much more impact thank he had.

He will be immense once he smooths out the rough, slightly impetuous, edges. That comes with experience, which is what he’s getting now.

I think both centrebacks could have reacted better, as could Rico definitely.

They seemed surprised that O'Reilly got beaten and the cross came in - and he could have done better there too clearly.

Not his fault though. We should never have ended up outnumbered on a break from our free-kick - that's horrendous. That should only happen if you're 1 down in added time or something, not 0-0 away in a derby with half and hour to go.
 
I think he looks decent, but I think the problem he’s got, is that when our other centre backs come back hes not going to get enough game time

End of the day he didn't commit to either option, it's van dijk type of defending that I don't really like. He could have done better, that's all

In what way is he being treated terribly for an inexperienced 21 year old who’d never played top level football and couldn’t speak a word of English when he first came and is still in the early stages of learning top level football and the English language?

He's proved he's more than capable and deserves more game time.
I like him, think he is up to speed now and good luck to him

I think that’s the whole point…DON’T commit to either option and leave the player on the ball to have to make a decision, and yourself the option to challenge either threat.

In the end, Mbuemo made a smart play, by giving himself another yard of space for the pass, then managed to squeeze it in the corner.

I think criticism of Khusanov’s actions are a tad harsh, even if Semenyo agrees with you!

at the very least, he takes a very unnecessary step inside in the very last second before bruno makes the pass, which maybe if he hadn't taken he could have challenged for the pass
