The reactionism here is beyond even normal Bluemoon standards. A week ago, we beat Newcastle and we were the greatest thing since sliced bread, chasing Arsenal down, terrifying front 3, set fair with a young defence, Rodri back to his best and showing what we missed with Nico in CDM, etc etc. Now 2 games on, we are worse than a non-league team and going to get pummelled by a team that could end up as the worst PL outfit ever.

Reality is we lost our 2 best defenders (1 of whom is one of our best attackers also!); our Ballon d'Or winner has just come back after virtually 15 months out including an injury relapse, had to draft in a kid who has never seen the PL before longside a rookie CB; and were missing our best RB in both games and our captain yesterday. 2 very sub-standard performances, but nobody will be hurting more than the players. And we have not become garbage overnight (nor is this team world-beaters yet). So let's have some perspective and get behind the boys. There is a huge amount to play for this season.

This is spot on.

A lot of that is true - but you haven't referred - bearing in mind the 'bare bones' situation at the back to which you alluded - to the tactics employed at all. What's your take on that front? And were you disappointed to see the early warnings (in the derby) completely ignored? That's what is really concerning many posters and unless I've missed it, nobody has given any justification for the lack of adaptability displayed in the past two games.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting a different result!

I’m reading we are expecting Nunes and Nico G back, obviously time will tell but there’s an expectation they return.
This would be massive. Nunes brings the pace and physicality back to the RB role and Nico helps plug the hole in the middle alongside Rodri

The last two have been a shit show but Nico, Nunes and Guehi coming into the team goes a long way to making us more solid. Not wanting to jump on the likes of Lewis and Alleyne but their youth/ lack of physicality massively hurts us

Not expecting much.

After all the struggles over the last season and a half. I can only pinpoint the main problem to training.

Pep is not training the players enough and it shows over this period. Not having a go but repeating what pep has said himself too much.

Yes more players might be needed, more time, maybe some won’t work. Injuries again need to ease.

Set pieces crap.

It all leads to time training. Clearly with the amount of new players and games pep is not getting the requisite time to implement his philosophy.

So yes we have lots of little problems but fundamentally we are not coached enough on what pep needs. It’s very clear to me now. Il get on the blower to khaldoon…. -:)

Donnarumma

Nunes
Khusanov
Guehi
Ait-Nouri

O'Reilly
Rodri
Gonzalez

Cherki
Marmoush
Semenyo

Let's try a simple 433 with overlapping full backs get back to basics, give Erling a rest and kick fuck out of Wolves

Adding Guehi, Gonzalez, Nunes, Semenyo and Marmoush will be a huge improvement on last night’s shit show

We take huge risks at the back I.e play young players at the half way line(which has been catastrophic yet haven’t been taking any risks at the top end(where the experienced and high earners are I.e take a few shots, hit early crosses etc. I’m not saying shoot from anywhere but there has to be a happy medium

Wolves will play exactly like Rags/Bodo did. Press high up the pitch which is the best way to prevent the fast break which we had been good at earlier in the season. This gives their defence time to set up 10 at the back. Couple of fast players to hit us on the break(don't know their players so no idea who).

We have to find a way to get the ball up the pitch quicker. Once they have set up it becomes extremely difficult to break down and score - hence the sideways balls to find an opening.

What the hell happened to our wingers playing more inside closer to Haaland? I swear to god we changed earlier in the season so that Doku and whoever was on the other side weren’t glued to the touchline and we looked miles better for it?

Haaland as poor as he’s been recently is totally isolated all the time and we know the guy isn’t the greatest link up wise.

It all comes down to the midfield. For Wolves I’d absolutely love to see a deeper midfield 2 in Rodri/Nico for once if they’re fit. Ball winners and deep playmakers, none of this Reijnders/Bernardo/Foden floating around a lone DM bollocks. It worked in the past because we had genuine world class quality in the 8s which we don’t anymore.

Play Ait Nouri (or Nico O) on the left, Nunes right. Let them get forward and provide the width with the defensive assurance of two holding players. Doku/Semenyo/Cherki can then drift inside and actually influence things.

Never under Pep have I seen a more static, boring one dimensional setup than these last two games. Not once have we looked like creating a chance let alone scoring.

Seen so many Pep outers recently, no chance I’m on board with that yet, but he really does need to change this approach. As poor as some players have been it’s the setup that’s hanging them out to dry a lot of the time currently imo. He’s not adapted at all to the new squad post rebuild and shouldn’t be immune to criticism as much as I respect and love him

This would give me so much hope for the rest of the season if Pep and the coaching staff realized a lineup and change of tactics in the midfield such as this was needed....so therefore it has about zero chance of actually happening.

This could be the game where we finally have more than one useful player on the bench? It hasn't happened since before the New Year

Reactionism? Chasing Arsenal down? We’re behind but we’re not chasing anything, we haven’t won a league game in the last 4 and the performances are getting worse, the last two arguably worse than anything witnessed last year. I would also love to know who the terrifying front 3 were! I also don’t think anybody thought Rodri was back to his best.

I’m definitely not Pep out, the reality is we have spent a large amount of money, we have just been played off the park by some Norwegian outfit that haven’t played a competitive game in 2 months. Create nothing, controlling nothing and defending nothing and all that after getting mullered by that lot, both teams should have scored atleast 5. I have never felt embarrassed for a player but last night I felt embarrassed for them all.
